To clarify you are comparing the 1717 1650kv
Size: Diameter: 1.87” (47.6mm) at fins, 46mm at can. Length: 3.35” (85.1mm) ; Weight (w/wires):, 597.6g (21.08 oz); 548g without wires
And the 1515 2200KV.
Size: Length: 75.4mm. Diameter: 40mm (41.4mm with fins) ; Weight (w/wires):, 426g (15.1oz) ; 380g without wires.
How long is the race? What type of race?
What ESC is powering it? How heavy is the RC car?
If both cars are trying to go 100 mph and both run 6s the 2200kv will get hotter.
There is an ideal motor for an specific use case but regardless the 1717 will run cooler in most scenarios because of its lower KV and larger surface area to shed heat
I have a mugen gt 1/8 and a limitless, the track I want to use is an autodromo, a track of approximately 1000m², a track with very few curvesTo clarify you are comparing the 1717 1650kv

What cell count do you plan to runI have a mugen gt 1/8 and a limitless, the track I want to use is an autodromo, a track of approximately 1000m², a track with very few curves
I think 150mph, I have a new 6-cell battery, I'm thinking of buying an XLX2 but I don't know if it's necessary for these engines.
Motors. Engines are nitro. . Its fun learning,as I am learning all the time.I think 150mph, I have a new 6-cell battery, I'm thinking of buying an XLX2 but I don't know if it's necessary for these engines.
With the 1717 1620kv can I reach that speed?Do you have a picture or google maps image of this track? I don't think you can run a car like this over 100 mph on a track and still make the curved turns if its the same as this other one?

If you need to run more than 1 lap at high speed then I'd say you need the big electronics to stay cool. XLX2 and 1717
YesWith the 1717 1620kv can I reach that speed?
I have not compared the two in speed run use, but I know that bashers often compare them as similar for power and running cool. How does the 4990 Hobbywing compared to the 1717?
Considering you can get the HW M6G2 Combo already BT capable for a little more than the Castle motor alone, I'd say it's a no brainer. How does the 4990 Hobbywing compared to the 1717?
Yes that price point of the Max6 G2 combo sold me on it.Considering you can get the HW M6G2 Combo already BT capable for a little more than the Castle motor alone, I'd say it's a no brainer.
Will go 100mph all day bashing in a road car.
You want to go 150mph on a track? That must be one hell of a track…I think 150mph, I have a new 6-cell battery, I'm thinking of buying an XLX2 but I don't know if it's necessary for these engines.
Sure, but you’re leaving a TON of information unsaid. Why in the world would you gear up for 150mph to run on a track? I just don’t understand. With the 1717 1620kv can I reach that speed?
Must be Talledega. You want to go 150mph on a track? That must be one hell of a track…
