I bought this 1/5 Kraton used. Thought I would enjoy it box stock. Original controller so I can pass it of to for a group bash.

Nope. Upgraded to Hobbywing G2 Max5 12s.

When I opened it up I noticed a melted diff housing in the center. Ordered entire center housing, front and rear diffs from https://jennysrc.com/. Then I got the metal RCAWD cups from https://amzn.to/3Nn3Dyq

See it all here:

PS I have MX43s on deck!

I am surprised the center bulkhead was melted! Did you notice any bad bearings that might have caused that?

Still running stock plastic F/R cups here, let us know how the RCAWD cups hold up. I have been impressed with them lately, seems like they are really stepping up some of their products.

Nice Work, Thanks for sharing.

The original center diff got the inspection after I heard the dreaded Diff Death Grind sound. (When you hear it, you'll know it!) Opened up the housing after wrestling with it, melted shut. multiple see through holes. I didn't bother to check the diff inside, just bought the whole thing new from Jenny.

As for the red aluminum cups, they seem super strong. They have the four positioning points to reduce the force of the screws at high speed, not easy to break and loosen screws. (same as stock) Not like stock, there is no grub screw at the bottom to remove pin. Because it has a bottom and top to it, you can put the pin on before assembling the red cup.

I did get to take it out to shake it down, before I blew a tire it felt and sounded great.

I'm new to this too. I love this hobby and this forum, I turn here for knowledge. The local hobby shop is cool, but they tend to hold my rigs hostage...so to save a bit of coin, time and frustration...I'm learning how to wrench on my down time.

Thank you for watching my videos!!!!!
