Looks like your mesh was really bad, motor needs to move in and ideally pinion needs to be aligned with the spur a bit better.

Looks like it was offset to me. You want entire width of pinion to engage spur gear, yours was hanging over edge.

Definitely offset. It looks like my spur gear and mine was caused by a motor mount bolt snapping.
All in all, I wish my issue was only a pinion. I need to replace motor mount, slipper hubs, slipper pads, spur, and tension bolt set(lost the spring)
