My CR-10S is making a grinding noise when the nozzle comes down (see attached Video). Any ideas on why this is happening or how to fix it?

Is something loose on the z-axis? It seems like it's skipping. I don't know this particular printer, are there little locking cylindrical bits at the bottom of the threaded z axis with screws in them?

Last time my machine made that noise, it was a stepper motor not able to move it. Check if there’s interference when it moves down the gantry towards the bottom.

The z / x axis gantry is out of square, causing a bind.. everything needs to be loosened and aligned properly.. it's clearly evident in the video, when the z axis steppers start skipping watch the gantry twist.. Alot of misalignment going on causing the steppers to skip..

Square everything back up and tighten your offset wheels until you can just feel resistance on the wheel against the gantry v slots .. Don't forget to square the x axis gantry brackets to the z axis extrusions...

I tightened some of the z axis wheels and the problem seems to have gone away. Thanks
