6s battery can only see 5 cells

Can only get 5 cells from a 6s battery to read on my charger. I have 2 volt checkers and they will read 6 cells but only after wiggling the balance lead a bit, any movement and it stops reading.

Any tricks to fix this or do I need a new battery?

Sounds like a loose connection. Are you plugging the battery into one of those balance board things like this? https://www.amazon.com/FLY-RC-Expan...4&psc=1&mcid=f5ee2ef8aefb3f4697155bca36ff5fa5

Those things are known to just crap out. For fun plug the battery right into the charger.

Ok thats weird. Plugged the balance lead direct to charger and it shows all 6 cells. Reattached it to the balance board that would only show 5s and now its shows 6s.
Oh well, just glad it works!

Check your balance lead wires for cuts or bare wire. I had that happen to me and as soon as I plugged it in it started popping.
