Bought a pair of new 3s 5300 batteries so want to make sure I’m doing this right.

Should I discharge them both and then balance charge them or just balance-charge them right off the bat?

Once fully charged, how much of a difference in voltage between each cell should there be?

I’ve watched so many YT videos on this topic, it’s starting to make my head spin. No two answers seem to be the same. So here I am, asking the guys (gals) that I know won’t steer me wrong. Please.

If your going to use them then balance charge them. If your not planning on using them set your charger to storage mode.
Each cell should be pretty close. Not sure an exact number but id say less then or equal to 0.01v difference would be good.
Example 4.20 4.21 4.2

Honestly, I just balance charge them right off the get go and let her rip.
Use it up completely or just half way or somewhere in between (I don't know 🤷‍♂️)...
Where ever it ends up I just bring it home and let it sit for a couple of days Before I remember (get to it) to balance charge again or finally do a storage mode.

That's how I treat my cheapy Lipos....

They seem to do okay.
I don't do speedruns ,nor do I spend big bucks on batteries (yet)
so I don't really notice any detriment.. from my monkey 🦍 behavior/treatment of them.

No need to discharge them.

Ideally the cells will be within roughly .00-.03v of each other, but you can go pretty far outside that. Less expensive batteries tend to be less consistent and drift more as they age.
