Still waiting on the Castle Sensor Wire, the one it comes with isn't long enough.

Getting those Arrma Pinion's to fit. One at a time...
Threw on a "Mod 1 Safe-D5" 20t with a 50t Spur.

Weighed in with Fans and GPS onboard.
14.3 lbs total (with a 8000 mAh 6S Lipo)
8S Cap Pack and new wiring harness im making will only add 125 grams.

Weight difference between this 1515 2200 and a 1717 1650 isn't much either. This Big Buggy will stay under 15 lbs.

IMG_5206.JPG

The Fans are mounted nicely, Not crazy Loud either. Plenty of moving air for 8v.
And It's got a Big Yellow Button!😁
I love big buttons, they just scream out; "Push Me!" No real reason to turn the fans off but when you're in the house playing with the ESC App, it's nice to shut them up.
More dielectric wrapping, keeps it looking clean. Tidy.

The RX Box is FULL! I got the Castle B-Link in there too.
We can get Wet and Muddy now ;-)
Hose it down afterwards.

The Velcro on the Mojave sides and Typhon shell works Great for over a year now. No pins needed. Body never comes off, Air Rips through it. Nice and light too.

IMG_5205.JPG

It looks like a Proper Buggy too.

Waiting for the Rain to Stop :-/
Bring Bad Wolf to the Park for a Run.

Not to Leave Good Dalak out.

I did this not long ago.
Removed the rear shell pins and added (trimmed to fit) Mojave sides. And Velcro for the body.

Got this center Brace back on. Trimmed it to fit. It really adds a level of protection for the guts. When you slam into boulders or trees and stuff.

IMG_5268.JPG

Plenty of Room for a Bigger Motor.
I'll try a 1650kv or lower in this at some point.

IMG_5269.JPG

The Buggy Boys (Small, Medium and Large) are getting ready for some field and grass hill running and bashing.

Typhon 3S v 1.5 (some upgrades, fast pinion)
Good Dalek 6S V 2.5 (beefed up for now, waiting on motor upgrade)
Bad Wolf 6S v 3. 0 (partly tested, unfounded  but ready)

IMG_5234.JPG

The Grandkids (3 and 5) can't wait to see Bad Wolf fixed.
The 3 yo is a little afraid of him, I don't blame him!
The 5 yo likes the Typhon 3S but hes a bit sketchy.
They both have 2S mega's but No, there're not cool anymore.

I got the little one going on 3 this Baby Kraton Hahaha

Took the Wolf out for a workout.
Just 10 min between storms.

Ran with the Katar 6S (Talion) tires.
Little smaller than usual, they were nice and fast on the freshly cut field.
Sits lower, more Buggy Like. Less clearance than with the Backflips or Cooperheads.

was running a 20t pinion, 50t spur, 4.3 trans ratio.
This 1515 2200KV Revs up Fast and definitely higher than the Stock motor!
Less tendency to wheelie at speed on each rip, that was something new.
More easily reach flat-out, quicker.

It was moving fast, didn't have the gps on. Id say easily in the 70's.
It got up to speed quicker and ran flat out well - ran out of field.

I really think the Dalek will Love this motor on the street.

Motor temps stayed low but it was cool out today.

Castile B-Link is Cool!
Lots to learn from the data once it makes sense.
But this is sort of a base line.

I had the BIG Buggy out tonight for a test, still finishing up a rebuild. Had the Backflips MT's on it and a newly rebuilt center diff 46t with 1m silicone and a 20 pinion. What could go wrong?

Did a few easy runs then a few hard ones across a local field. Grass is short and still a bit wet, kept diffing out at max throttle but was fun, got around 70mph. This field is short so can't get to full power for long, if you can. With the Backflips it's Easily wheelies at Speed and darts around.

On the walk home, I ripped up and down a nice wide street. Got the Backflips doing the pizza-cutter thing :) in a very controlled way and was ripping in the 90's! Temps hit 180s, ESC hit 200. Was pulling near 300a. The Backfilps are unruly on pavement but if you get them to hookup you can go fast.

Dalek Update.
Got the taller sides sorted out. Body mostly velcors to the sides now, you can easily pick it and toss it around from the body alone, the velcro is Crazy Strong! No need for the nose pin, it's really just for show. Easy on/off body.

IMG_5362.JPG

IMG_5360.JPG

IMG_5361.JPG

The Talion Towers are Lower than the Typhon. I love the way they sit and how well they work with the Typhon Shock bodies with much heavier spring weight and 1000/800 CST silicon oil. The Mojave Fortress tires are like the perfect oversized Buggy tire, nice and stiff and handle the 6S beating well!

Im Currently running a 50 spur and 22 pinion. EXB LSD center Dif stiffened with 500cst and 3 plates. It works nicely.

I think im Dun. Im not sure if Bad Wolf is but I know I am!

I just replaced the Rear Dif and have another one for the Front. This Diffs were bought used and they are dun too.
500k silicon for the Rear, 300k for the front. 1000k for the center.

I replaced allot on this 3rd build.

While testing, at full power runs im seeing around 150-250amps, 5-8hp/6000+ watts, over 50k rpms. It's Powerful.
Gearing is 46/20 center, 4.5 Trans ratio. 172mm tires.
Saw ESC temps between 150-200 degrees, motor 130-160+. So I put a nice 40x40x28mm server fan on it and 2 on the motor. Low amp, high volume.

Id be happy if I can get into the 90's on Grass. We'll see.

In September I'll put a set of Sweep Racing Road Crusher On Road Belted Tires (SWSRC1001B)
They're 142mm X 80mm, 304gr/each.
See how they do on the street! Can't run Hoon 107's on Bad Wolf, they are WAY to Small.

The was a fun re-build.
And im looking forward to trying an 8S motor and Lipos in it, version 3.5 ;-)

Clearance for the Caps in the MMX8S is tight!
I used shims and an extra carbon screen to ensure it doest make contact on Crashes with the caps.

This helped lower some heat, on a Hot Day!
https://www.arrmaforum.com/threads/what-did-you-work-on-today.9619/post-958590

But to do what I want to do with this Big Buggy, Im going to need more torque.
Runs are Fast and it's crazy powerful but it's not enough.
https://www.arrmaforum.com/threads/...esc-and-a-motor-suggestions.59671/post-958804

And Im becoming more interested in keeping Good Dalek on the street or light off road. The Castle 2200kV V2 I think will be perfect for it.
I also got another Castle MMX8S for it. It's a good ESC, more than powerful enough for 6S. Ample amps, low ripple and runs cooler sensored and not on a heavy load. Appropriate Overkill for the 1515 2200kV, a Good combo for a Stretched Typhon 6S! And with 107mm Hoons on the street, high gearing won't be difficult or taxing.

Velcro!
And the velcro strip is thin. Could be twice as much, as the other one is on Dalek. I can swing that car in circles by its body, it won't let loose. Hard to remove LOL
All RC Bodies should be Velco in place and forget about all this pinning and mounting crap.

I couldn't do one without the other. They get jealous, the brothers.

Good Dalek
was running a 23 pinion/50 spur for many months and lots of battery. Needs a tune-up, bearings and shot, mostly. Got new Eddies for it today. Drive shafts have seen better days too. Oh well.

Put the Castle 1515 2200kV in it (22 pinion this time ;-) ) and will finish installing a new MMX8S ESC (and get the BT Link, I love that thing!) and a set of 40mm Fans coming this week. All New Stainless Steel screw-set for entire rig. I'll check the Diffs too.
I have been running a LSD done tight (3 plates and 200k silicon) and its kind of cool but I have a OD Dif for it with a 50t and 500k im going to run for a while now with this new motor and ESC.

Past Potential (140's vs 107's)

AND WHY will I always have to turn the end cap so the wires fit properly?

IMG_5560.JPG

BAD WOLF v3.25 (I thought I was DUN?)

New Castle 1717 1650kV motor fits well.
I have a 46t Spur on a OD Diff with 1000k silicon in it.
I have a Tekno m5 26t mod1 Pinion coming for it this week.

Potential On Backflip belted MT's, Katar Belted and a Street MT in that 145mm range (Sweep). 140 is the smallest Id run.

Got a First-time run in with Bad Wolf and his new 1717 1650 motor.
6S Lipo was only at 4.0/cell but we got in 10 min.

Its powerful and Fast as shite! Very smooth acceleration.
Im going to have a good time with different motors now!
Very different than the 1515 2200.

Unfortunately I neglected to lock tight the motor to the bracket and it loosed up but no damage.
Just have to wait now till the lock tight dries and it's going to Rain Again soon.

This Rig sails over the Grass effortlessly! Just enough clearance to keep from bottoming out. Even on the street, can sail over bumps and manhole covers without launching into the air (like someone else I know - Dalek!) But isn't bouncy like a Kraton. Tracks nice and straight too!

Easy high speed with this motor!

I started off with a 46t spur and a 26t pinion. 4.3 trans. 172mm tires. Has high potential.

Update...

The 1717 1650 Blew up.
https://www.arrmaforum.com/threads/new-castle-1717-1650-dead.63804/

Replaced it. Haven't road tested yet but the Two Buggy boys are done - again. I hope.

Still waiting for China Post. They have a pair of 40x40x28 fans and brackets I need.

Both Rigs Now have Castle MMX8S's with BT, App for on the fly ESC changes and data logs, very cool and easy.
Lots of new parts and some more coming (drive shafts and motor/center Dif mount (Ive had enough of the EXB ones!)), some spare parts and new Bumpers and Wings (for when I destroy these) and I need another set of 107 White's.
A set of 4S Lipos for 8S, still Shopping them. It's going to be hard to fit 8S Lips(s) in Big Wolf.

Gotta get them both back on the road and on the fields and shake the bugs out, tune them up - again

IMG_5652.JPG

Look how the MMX8S Hardly Fits in the Stretched Typhon. I had to trim and cut the sides some. Any bigger and it just won't fit without being in a somewhat compromised position. Motors fit fine, plenty of room. But otherwise, space is tight now.

IMG_5654.JPG

Bad Wolf if fine. Just Gained some weight but just about 15 lbs now!

IMG_5653.JPG

Blog...WOW. That went well.

That 2200kV is a nice fast motor, much better suited for Dalek. Dalek weighs in now (without battery) at 9.3 lbs. (4212g) Pushing 50t/23t, 3.3 trans, 7.14 final ration.
I ran it for the first time today for 15 min. On 107 hoons. Fastest Ive ever seen this car. Quick acceleration, enough power to lift the front tires at speed, on Hoons!
No fans on it yet and motor temps are not so high, considering. The Fans will keep it in check!
Front driveshafts need to be replaced! Others look fine enough.
Powerful and not complaining about the gearing at all! Smooth at Slow Speed! Impressive. And having the ability to alter the ESC setting on my phone in the park or on the street is Priceless!

The 1650kV is a Beast Motor. Wolf Weights in at 12.4 lbs. (5644g) without a Battery.
Easily turns the gears at 46t/26t, 4.3 trans, 7.6 final. Lifts the wheels Easily at Speed and attempts backflips. LOL The combo is very smooth, acceleration is smooth at any speed. Powerful Big Buggy. I can see I need some more spring weight in the rear already but for a 10 min run in the park, it's putting the power Down and making my short Field, Shorter! Thats a bit of a problem, it's not going to be long enough now.

...So Bad Wolf wants this as his workbench now. He's such a primadonna. Im Not buying it for him!

IMG_5632.JPG

Dalek Blog.
Finished (I hope)
Replaced 2 bent CVD shafts in the front and a pin (curbs and trees). New bearings and all is nice.
Fans came in, got them installed. Its overkill.

The Brand NEW MMX8S came with a broken Fan. Both of the New MMX8S arrived with broken Fans. Missing a blade.
Doesn't make me all warm and fuzzy inside about Castle Creations.
I send them warrantee claims for each and they told me to mail them to them, trackable and in 4-8 weeks they will replace them after 2 weeks processing time.

It's F'in FAST! Smooth.
Im running an EXB LSD Center Diff packed with plates and heavy silicon. It may not be okay with this new motor. Getting lots of rear wheel spin.
I Have a OD Dif with 300k CST that I can throw in, see if thats better. Maybe I'll put something closer to 1000k in it first.
