I’m curious about running it on 8S and wonder if anyone has been down that path.

Did the motor hold up?

What 4S lipos fit in that bastard of a battery tray?

Specifically to your questions. What is the motor ESC combo? The 2.0 shows it's 8S compatible, I couldn't find any documents on the original.

Lol I guess not.

ESC is a Max6 rebrand (8S capable) and the motor is a 5888 1200kv officially rated for 6S. But I’m curious if it holds up to 8S.

And the battery tray is very tight.

6S to 8S is a bit of jump. I suspect it will be toast, but if you don't care you can always run it an see what happens.

The other alternative is to keep an eye on the classifieds and see who is selling what. 8S motors come up pretty often.

I pretty much only run it on 8s and I took the battery tray out and cut the top off and added a rotation hinge that goes up and down to the top piece and extended the sides with a piece of cheap carbon fiber and attatched it like that so I can use normal 4s packs in it. My friend has a 2.0 that can fit regular sized 4s packs and the battery trays are cross compatible if you wanna look into that. Anyways I never had a issue with 8s on the 1.0 sbr and I bash mine hard all summer
