Hello , I got my hands on a second hand Big Rock that I don't know the history of.

When I power it on I can control the steering perfectly but the motor is not behaving. I have tried holding the button while powering on to get into the calibration setup but it doesn't seem to work.

Sometimes I have a green light, sometimes red. When I pull the trigger sometimes it goes flashing red, other times it green. The very odd time it will start the motor.

Anyone have any idea on this? I have tried a fully charged 2S and 3S. See below for a few youtube videos showing my fault.

Try a hard reset and then see what it does, read through these..

There is some throttle response, in the video sometimes you can hear it 'chirp' and the motor pulses and the odd time of will spin. See video 1.

I have tried spinning the pinion when giving a command and it doesn't help. Does not feel jammed or restricted in any way.

Will try the factory reset again later. Thanks

So, the factory reset worked - mostly. Got it up and running and after a few minutes on the 2S battery it started cutting out. It would give a quick pulse of throttle then stop. Then maybe go for 10seconds then back to pulses.

Swapped out for the 3S and again, it worked for a few minutes the started doing the same. I didnt get a chance to see if the ESC was indicating over temp, however it wasnt that warm to touch and it is only around 15C (60F) here so shouldnt be that warm. Any ideas?

The esc looks to be fried. Jenny's rc has a esc from a big rock for $46.50.

Strange, after working well for a few minutes I now can't access the ESC setting menu or the throttle setup menus following the guide above. This worked fine earlier. Tried doing another reset and still the same.

That sucks! I know the feeling. I think she's fried.
Jenny's rc has your replacement esc.

The esc that was in my outcast 4s lasted about 2 Yeats and did the same thing. I forgot about that! This is most likely way it was sold. Unfortunately for you.
Jenny's rc the cheapest way to replace.

Thanks I'll look into a new one.

@Senton_Prime i tried this and it worked for about 3 or 4min then it went back to the pulsing. It's like it won't allow too much current without shutting down. If I lift it and pull the trigger a little it will run, if I apply more throttle or set it down it cuts out again
