I'm getting burned by Canada Customs again, with an order from Amain. It's not bad enough that our currency is like Monopoly money to the rest of the world, and I've been paying 36% on the exchange, but when Canada Customs charges me a hefty duty/tax on some parts for my toy truck, it makes it not worth the effort to purchase from the U.S any more. The math is like this: part that costs $100 US, I pay 36% on the exchange, plus 13% tax on the total. Total is almost $154! Too bad, because the American online retailers are so much better stocked with Arrma parts and upgrades, and just about everything else rc for that matter. There are Canadian online retailers, but almost every time I do the math on a given part, it's still cheaper from the U.S, even with the exchange and shipping! Funny thing is, never get customs charges on packages from JRC. Amazon Canada is hit and miss for parts (tons of GPM, uh uh), and Ebay usually carries way higher shipping costs. Sorry my American amigos, but it looks like I'm going to have start shopping north of the 49th, and pay that dam 13% gst/hst/LMNOP or whatever the f it is tax, our government keeps swindling out of us. Too bad, cause I really, really like shopping at Amain. Sorry for the rant, but needed to exhaust the steam building up in my head, when I got the latest Customs notice.
