1: Obsess over a really cool $1.5k+ gun for a couple weeks.
2: Tell the Wife you bought it, but you reallly didn't and watch for the reaction. You now have an out... If she says "Yeah, figured as much, better not put it on our card" is a total yes. Any other reaction is a solid NO and you can say "Well, I thought hard about it and figured it was a bad idea so I can cancel in 48 hours."
3: If it's a yes, buy the one you really wanted for 750 bucks a day later, tell her it was on sale and now you're a hero.
4: Pro tip, buy her flowers whether yes or no.
BTW, this works for Jeep parts, Hot Rod parts, chainsaws, custom hunting knives, etc.
