Kraton Motor/Esc options Kraton 8s exb

Hi everyone.

I’m going to get myself an 8s EXB roller and I’m having trouble figuring out what’s going to power it.

Hobbywing has the 56118 sensored cans in 1100, 800 and 560kv (1250 as well?).
Castle with the XLX2 1100kv combo.

What would be the difference between the HW1100 with 20t pinion and the 560 with a 40t pinion? Same size can so same power output I’m assuming.
If this is the case why would one opt for one over the other?

Couldn’t find much info on this topic, but maybe I’ve been looking in the wrong places.

Any help would greatly appreciated.

Skip the hobbywing 56118 motor in any kv (too much hassle to make it fit.) You could use a Max5 G2 esc (it runs fine with a sensored motor like castle 2028, etc.) You most likely will have a "cogging" issue with that esc if you would be running it with a sensorless motor on 8s. If you're running a 12s set up then cogging doesn't seem to happen sensored or sensorless. If you're planning to go 12s then you want to stay with a lower kv motor, usually 800kv or less.
