Arrma RC's
  1. Mojave
Hi guys,

I took of the front piece from the main baseplate to check te gearbox case for cracks and work on the front diff.
From my Mojave V2.
I did this for the second time.
A few screws and the whole front part comes off.
As a suprise this time a screw fall down when everything came loose?
I have no idea where this should be?
Its not a hex?

Despite Arrma's overview, I can't find this screw.
Anyone have an idea?
Otherwise I'm screwed...

U are a king Tex!

But its not a droop screw.
They are hex en still in place.

Its strange thats this screw is not a hex.
Its nothing?

How can you pin something with this?
Seems like something that doesn't need to be properly attached?
I think.
Also strange that it did not fall out during an earlier disassembly of the front.

It looks like something has broken off on the head.
Maybe it was glued to plastic?
I also don't feel like I'm missing a screw or a threaded hole or a nut that I didn't find?
It's not a small screw either.
It's M4 I believe. I think you miss that somehow...

Here's an idea, maybe you picked it up while driving and it has nothing to do with your truck? I'm always picking rocks out of my chassis. I've gutted a lot of Arrmas and never crossed paths with anything that looks like that.

Or from the assembly line. There was a thread years ago were someone opened their box and there was one of those pin screws that hold the driveshafts on the Nero in the box, but it was either a Kraton or a Talion they had opened.

Chances are small.
Fairly new car.
Driven 2 x on a large lawn.
2 times on the beach and once on a construction site and a few test drives in front of the door.
Yes, It could, chances are small.
But I think this is the solution because I can't place this screw either.

Advice taken and put everything together and went to the beach today.
It drove like a charm until the motor came loose because I had forgotten to tighten it with loctite. OMG....
Fortunately, that was already far into my 2nd battery when that happened:)

Last week at a beachrun we broke:

- Front gearbox case from the red one fckd up, a main input gear, a diff gear and bearing in the process.

Took a while before I got there...
Not a real problem got al the gear and and repaired the car.

As a coincidence i did order 1 alu gearbox case from Ali that got delivert the same time:) Just for testing.
I am very impressed with that alu gearbox case that i used on the rear diff.

I feel like the drivetrain is more stable and can take a bit more with this.
You don't have to leave it for the weight because it weighs nothing.
All other parts that are attached to the aluminum gearbox case are also much better now.
The only thing was that there was some play in the Main Input Gear 10T which I don't have at all with the standard plastic Gearbox Case.
Today at the beach we drove without problems without anything breaking 6S & 4S hv:)
There is a good chance that I will also replace the others with the alu gearbox case over time.
The only wear that is now noticeable is the Diff Outdrive cup.
Its already damaged if you look at it.....
I have 1 set of better cups in it and that is definitely a difference with those of Arrma.

Installed metal Diff housing.
With a shim on the outside (so there is no play) this is perfect and so far no gears and other drivetrain parts are broken.
Since the adjustments it is wonderfully trouble-free driving on the beach.

Pics from the alu housing and shim.
This solved my problem of the Main Input Gear damaging the diff case due to the flex of the plastic.
This happens especially with a nose or tail dive.
Apparently the plastic flexes to accommodate this (sounds good) but in the end that flex is an attack on your drivetrain.
I have 2 Mojave's and both cars had this problem. Structural problem....
Except for the Rear Brace Wing Mount and Front Center Brace Mount everything that protects the drivetrain with a crash is metal.
Those 2 parts are upgraded soon.
I'm still thinking about some scorched rc parts:
- Steel Diff Input cups
- Titanium Centre Drive Shaft Pair
- Hybrid ceramic bearing for the brushless motor.

After that i think i'm done spending upgrades:)
Only broken parts are left then....

Maybe i put some lights on the Mojave in the future.
Front en rear LED, breaklights and lightbar.
I saw some nice projects on the forum.
I don't want a kit i just want to order some leds myself en connect it with DUMBORC X6DCG Receiver.
