Winter is coming! As the famous proverb says: summer is the best time to prepare your sledge for winter. So, I didn’t intend to contest this statement and started to prepare my Out 8s to the winter tow work.
My rig powerhouse is TPPower 5670 800KV paired with ZTW BeastPro 300A. Right connectors are needed to prevent excessive heating. EC8 connector bullets look like a good choice.
I thought there was nothing easier than soldering a connector to a wire before I compared these rat tails with EC8 connector inner diameter.
To spend the whole coil of tin and burn fingers preventing it from spilling off the wire side isn’t the best and wisest decision for soldering.
The solution lies on the surface. Some adapters are needed. Luckily I’m a big fan of humming factories and machines so it happened I have, among several CNC machines, manual lathe in my hobby workshop. So, some work was done! Three adapters were made from brass rod and soldered between the wires and EC8. Several sweeps of Dremel and shrink tubes with inner glue coating made the whole picture looks neat and solid.
The result gives me some hope for long lasting rides without torn wires.
