Update - Thanks for all the advice. New parts arrived from the USA, diffs swapped out, oil topped up on both diffs. Car is running way smoother now!

Well, I found the cause of the grinding. It's a worn input gear.

Once the input gear teeth start getting that thin sharp pointed look replace. First time I inspected the diff gears. I thought look fine a little pointy. Greased and put back together, First 5 minutes and the rear input gear craped out. Lesson learned.

I guess the longer term solution is to go metal?
At that point with the money you spent, you're already near 6S territory.

After going around the block with these things, I just prefer the robustness and build quality of the 6S line, especially if you're going to spend a ton of money upgrading and beefing up components. It's just not worth it.

I loved both my Typhon and Vorteks 3S, but both had durability issues with the powertrain. You get a lot more out of the 6S line and you can run 3S on them if you want, especially the Typhon.
