Are you breaking the stock fan or is the ESC not staying cool enough?
Neither right now: I like to upgrade fans before they break, and additional cooling is always a plus.
Any 40x40mm is a direct swap.
I use the aluminium Rocket fans.
They are available in many different brand names and they are all the same. They are rated for 8 volts and work just fine, powered from the receiver at 7.4 volts.
Thanks. I wasn't sure if the aluminum fans were a direct fit or not. It does look like the connector might be an issue since Castle uses their own style of fan connector on the ESC. I guess I could use an empty port in the receiver rather than using the Castle connector on the ESC.

That’s usually the way to go for better cooling on castle ESCs. The integrated connector only provides power if the ESC temp exceeds a preset parameter. 140F I think.

Plugging it into the receiver keeps the fan on at all times.

Thanks. I wasn't aware of that. You just made my decision easier.
