Today my AliExpress Superdeal arrived, small but brave this WLToys 124016.

Will keep you up to date with my build here.
No big plans yet, but a new ESC and LC Racing shocks will happen for sure in the near future.

Looking forward to watching this!

Basically a Rlaarlo AM-D12, fantastic desert runner enjoy!
Officially it is a cheap copy of the LC Racing EMB-DT, but yes the same concept as the AM-D12, but I paid 89 euro for this one, including a 2s 2200mah lipo. AliE Superdeal!

Placed the FlySky receiver tonight to connect the car with my FlySky GT5, day and night difference. Original transmitter has no resolution for the steering. Had to be creative to make it fit.

Changed the shock oil of the rear shock to 60wt, not the effect I wanted, has very little damping. LC Racing shocks fit 1:1 and should be way better. Something for the future.

Started with placing hex screw were I can instead of Philips screws.

And off course I had to test it! Ow boys this thing is fast and nimble. It is a nightmare to work on, because you need to release 15 screws before you can reach something, but the driving is a lot of fun. It's perfect for the neighborhood and I am looking forward to try it on the beach.

My Typhon is too brutal on 3s for the streets and big too carry around and my FTX Tracer (HW 10BL60 and 4600kv brushless) is pretty fast, but it steers like a wet towel. This WL124016 is fast and nimble. Good purchase

It could use a better ESC, or maybe just program this ESC different, because it has too little punch, but my Surpass Hobby program card doesn't work with this ESC.

It really needs time to get up to speed, but when it goes faster it starts to accelerate faster, reminds me of a 2 stroke engine. This was with the stock battery, I have a gensacearespammers 2200mah battery that I will give a try and some CHNL batteries on the way, also 3s...

The Hobbywing 10BL60 in my Tracer is really great and most likely I will order one soon for this car.

Went to a small LHS and bought a second hand Quicrun 10BL120 from his former drift car.
Drove this car again today and it is great, but it really needs more punch.

What baffled me today was how fast it eats the 2200mah 2s batteries, I should measure it to be exact but I think 10-12 driving time and it is at 3.6 volt per cell. Have some CNHL's on the way.

Did some work on the 124016.
Cannot really get used to the number, prefer a name I realize. Details...

This is how WLToys greases the gears, nah...

Diff could use some more grease.

That should do.

Installed the 10bl120 ESC, but reverse doesn't work, can't get it to work, whatever I tried, LHS owner had a look as well and couldn't fix it, so I got my money back. Have a new ESC on the way.

Driving forward works great, and punch-wise this ESC is great, this is what I was looking for. Have plans for bugger wheels and a lower KV motor, this ESC will help keeping up with that.
Will try to run it without fan and keep an eye on the temperatures.

New batteries arrived as well, the 2 smaller ones are for the FTX Tracer.

I wanted to make my 124016 more bashproof and ready for bigger wheels and paddle tyres. The car is not designed for exchanging pinion gears, so I went for a lower kv motor. Stock is 4300kv and I bought and installed a 3100kv, to deal with the bigger wheels and 3s.
With the 4300kv motor, stock wheels and 2s, it runs just under 70kmh/44mph.

Wltoys likes to superglue bolts, so quite some heat was needed to get everything loose.

Motor size, shaft size and bullet size are all the same, so the installation was straight forward.

Can confirm now that the change to 3100kv was good, on 2s it is nice to drive and on 3s it is a hand full and still crazy fast for such a small car. And for a car this small, it handles really well. The downside is that it is really fragile, a small flip and you may break part already, but ok, part of the deal, this is not a hard core basher.

So, one of the shock broke and I took the opportunity to upgrade to the LC Racing shock and man, they do not disappoint. Build quality is really good, runs smooth, really nice dampening with 800cst shock oil. Love these little shock, same quality level as the 6s shock from Arrma.
And now, now I want the LC Racing front shocks as well :D
