Saw the Vendetta and really wanted one but my Typhon is getting more and more dedicated to on road as it is.

The Vendetta is a rather specific wheelbase and width and in looking into it 325mm wheelbase 1/8 on road is a thing with a wider stance that fits the 3S typhon almost exactly.

I already have a body delivered and my last major upgrade was a new ESC and a new to me radio.

I just ordered about 5 new parts off the Vendetta like the lower shock towers, front, rear skidplates/bumper/diffuser, body mounts. I'll figure out what screws I need when the parts arrive.

One thing is the exploded diagram for the Vendetta has errors especially in the rear assembly but I am pretty confident I got the bare necessities to fit my body on.

This arrived about a week ago. Been hunting for the Vendetta parts for a while.

Gonna be seeing some cool new custom builds with all the new parts...the towers will make for fitting more bodys,lower..imo typhon with the smallest towers look badazz.blx 4×4 I imagine would look good..like the bigger 6s with limitless towers

I am super excited too. We have a little 1/10 on road that's a blast to drive but it is delicate and parts are kind of hard to come by. It's a Kyosho Fazer mk2 but we really don't want to bash it at all because shipping and stuff will kill us from Japan. We stuck a 5700 kv in it and geared up. It absolutely flies but we want a nice looking road car we can run the heck out of and actually get parts to fix it. This build/conversion is just gonna be way more affordable than dropping on an RTR felony or infraction and wanting to replace electronics and the body and blah blah.
Kkkk

Cool thank you!

My friend is working on a TLR typhon going on 8S with a Mustang body. It looks incredible. It's a delta plastic body and he has modified limitless parts to get a front bumper.

Anyways. Step one was jamming a 150A hobbywing into the 3S chassis. I did a little modification to get it in there and still have a waterproof reciever box.

https://www.arrmaforum.com/threads/jamming-150a-esc-into-typhon-3s-with-a-4070-motor.45857/
I hate the ESC on top of reciever box style and have had my ESC on the chassis for a while after damaging one or two and that definitely won't work with the lower towers and so on. Ironically the body is going to sit higher so my two hardcase 3S batteries aren't going to require any squishing like they do right not with the typhon body.

This is a reverse of how I fit the 150A ESC in there if you didn't want to follow the other thread.
I cut the reciever box and drilled new ing holes and used 3M dual lock to attach the hobby wing.

Now it does 4S passes without breaking a sweat. It's made 6S passes also.
The motor is a surpass hobby 4070 2650kv.

I am on a 26T. So that's kind of my starting point.

These are the parts I have ordered from the vendetta as well as some 107mm shocks off a vorteks. The 70mm shocks from the vendetta are not likely to work because the typhon a arms are 25mm longer as near as I can tell and 70mm will be too short. The plan is to modify 100/107mm shocks with fuel tube to get the proper ride height.

Lower bumper, upper bumper, foam bumper, shock tower, body mount kit
I still need random screws and body posts which I may have laying around but those are the 5 vendetta proprietary parts I need for my build.
I want to do a sway bar assembly but the typhon a arms do not have the holes the vendetta a arms do. That's a later challenge.. I am sure I can drill some holes and make it work later.
Like I said though that exploded parts diagram is wrong and has wrong part numbers but I am confident I ordered the right stuff.

So I have a hot racing diff yoke somewhere in transit and I just rebuilt a rear diff with the composite case and metal crown gear. I have a metal input to match for the rear.

50k front and back seemed to work for not so much pull under throttle for us so I am sticking with that.

I have MIP drivers, a handy ryobi 2S cordless driver thing, some cheap hex bits and some dynamite ball end hex bits. I always final torque with the MIP and always take a break when using the cordless never driving a screw all the way in without taking a few breaks so as not to over heat the plastic, especially on new parts where I am making the thread.

The screws aren't 100% flush with the crown gear on this diff and it is vexing me. I'll have to see if there is any clearance issues when I put it in the yoke.

Got notice my parts shipped. Finding them was a challenge.

I found a store in Tennessee on Ebay and they were the only place and I got the last stock.

ARA320584 which are the vendetta/infraction mega lower shock towers; which have a spot for a chassis brace I might add. The chassis brace I can add later from locally available parts. I am sure I can figure the right length or just buy a bigger one and cut the aluminum tube to fit. Critical I am thinking to making a GT body fit well.

ARA320585 front bumper and rear diffuser. From what I can tell these are direct replacements for the 3S platform's skidplates. Besides vastly improving ground effects these allow/require me to install

ARA320588 the lower bumper set. You need these because they also hold in your ARA320590 and your hinge pins for the front and rear a arms. Critical piece and it allows you to attach the sway bar mounting gizmos proprietary to these new all road models. Now I haven't committed to the sway bar setup and it's many many bags and currently only works with the vendetta/mega infraction A arms but I'll be looking for a solution.

Next we have the ARA320586. This is the piece that gives you mounts for body posts. Stock 4x4 body posts AR320357. It is parts that attach to the front bumper and rear diffuser and allow you to mount your fancy new 1/8 GT body forward of the front wheels and behind the back wheels allowing for a much lower profile compared to the standard on top of shock tower body posts of the trucks or the super open wheel body posts of the typhon.

ARA320684 is the foam bumper for the Vendetta. I bought one. Honestly I think I am better off just cutting some foam poop and making my own in the end but at least this gives me something to start with.

Besides the widely varied screw types and sizes required to attach all these things I think these are the minimum 4-5 parts required to attach a GT body to an arrma 4x4.

JUST FOUND EVERY PART I NEED AT THE LHS. BOUGHT IT ALL. 200 CAD IN PARTS AND SCREWS. The only thing they didn't have in stock was the sway bars! I cleaned them out. They only had one of each. What a huge haul. Christmas came early for this guy!

I forgot body posts.

I want to keep the whole assembly for the typhon body together so when this adventure fails I can return easily. Stupid brain.

Getting started. I have to pull the power module and that's an involved process so I decided to start work on the front.

Lots of slop in the steering. Changing rod ends and pivot balls should have happened 12 months ago.

I bought 87mm shocks have no idea what will work with the new shock towers but at first glance the 100mm front typhon shocks are completely unusable without serious mods.

To me this is looking pretty legit. The 87mm shocks are too long and so are my springs. I might have to wait to get the 70mm shocks or shorten these ones 5/8". The 100mm shocks and that would never work. This body is going to want to sit lower for sure. Again. Impatience and buyer's remorse.
So that is ara320585 the front bumper and the ara320584 upper gear box and shock tower with 87mm shocks with ⅛inch spacer on a typhon 3S with rpm arms. Next is the upper bumper which will hold in the front hinge pins.

Moving right along. Had to shorten the front shocks. 87mm is too long.

The same shocks in the rear were too short. So I shortened a pair of 100mm to get a good ride height. Went with 725 cst oil front and rear.

Got 1 ¼ inch clearance under the chassis front and rear, maybe a sixteenth lower on the front end.

Gonna call it a night here before I get burnt out.

It's almost perfect. Once it is trimmed the body is going to sit just inside the rear diffuser at the back.
20211211_220113.jpg

Gonna be lots of room for 2 3S hard case batteries and al kinds of other gizmos if I want.

Thinking a total length 310mm chassis brace is gonna work. Can't wait to get one.
70mm shocks might have worked in the front I dunno about the rear. Like I said, 87mm seemed too short in the back.

Ugh. So horizon doesn't have a center brace that fits. The talion is 335mm center of hole to center of hole and uses a 285mm center brace pole. This thing is 315mm hole to hole centered and would need a 265mm pole. I will just buy the hardware and the talion aluminum and cut it to fit.

K-BASH as always takes the prize for madman. I am hoping the body shape will mean I don't just have downforce on the rear like the typhon setup has.

I had problems with parachuting and have my rear shocks pretty darn stiff and went with a lower downforce outcast wing before but could still wheelie on hoons which was far from desirable but a point of pride in some ways.

With a stiff suspension I could end up airbourne with an errant piece of gravel pretty easily and I am mostly running on public motorways and parking lots. It happens a fair bit.

Trimmed the body and got a fit that bothers me a little bit because ADHD but seems like it will be pretty functional. Even upper limit of travel on the suspension means the wheels won't rub inside the body but I just know the lexan front splitter on this body is going to be gone after a few runs.

Checked clearance for steering also and everything looks cool.

No idea how to paint it. McLaren orange(?) Black with red highlights? Olive drab is a strong contender. I want a dark colour and simple scheme rather than a scheme my amateur ass struggles to pull off. I'd rather do something simple cleanly than over reach and make a mess of.
