Kraton 6s Motor ESC Combo for Kraton EXB

So I'm going to be getting a 1/8th Kraton EXB in a couple months, I have all of the electronics figured out besides the motor and esc. I want to stay under $200 but can go over by a little if necessary. I want to stay relatively calm but also don't want stock electronics. I've seen youtubers like Kevin Talbot and the RcKiwis put crazy 8s systems in their trucks and the truck looks uncontrollable. TIA

I don't think you'll be under $200 unless you find a smoking deal on a max6. The max6 combo is $250 and if you ran a max6 and a hobbystar 4092 like i do in most of my 6s trucks it'll still be around there.

It's kinda small for this big of a truck, you may run into heat issues with the 2200kv motor as well.

2200kv no good for this truck. It is too heavy. Will run hot.
1650kv running 6s is the sweetspot for this rig. IMHO. Kind of hard to find anything decent for under $200( motor and ESC)
8S is overpowered IMHO. Yet many do this. Just that it will need much more attention, and break/wear more, drivetrain wise.
I recently installed HW Sensored setup in my TLRT Typhon. It basically doubled the price cost of the rig in all.
I'm sure you can find a bit cheaper with a NON Sensored setup.
Just look for 1650kv if you can. 1900kv is the highest I would go. But the torque of a 1650kv is where you want to be with 6s. A Max 6 combo at minimum.
You don't really need a combo. Sometimes you are not really saving any money in many cases. You can mix and match. And I would invest more into the ESC. There are many other non combo motor choices out there for less$$ that can work. Put all your apples into the ESC.

I don't remember the price of the combo as of late but on hobbywing it was saying it was normally $350 and is marked down to $259. i've been lucky to catch several on facebook for $140 shipped. I like the hobbystar 4092 1730kv motors as well. I actually need 2 more max6's and motors now that i aquired 3 mojave rollers hahahaha

The max6 with a surpass/rocket 4092 1650 is a decent combo. It's what I run in both my outcast and kraton exb. I run with backflip mt's wrapped on both and 19T pinion. Also replace the OEM fan in the max6 with a surpass 35mm alloy framed fan and get an NHX dual 30mm cooler for the motor.

Yeah I already had these 4 but didn’t have more trucks than that needing esc’s at the time I run my 4092’s 24/46 with 40mm fans on the Motor and max6

How do you get away with gearing that tall? I run a 19T with the 4092/1650kv and max6 on my outcast and regularly see 170F at the motor when bashing in grass on a 75-80F day.

I just put a HW 4985SL in my kraton exb with a 21T... will see how that does.

I run it in all of my trucks. I guess the fan/heat sink has been working well

Your best bet is to spend the 250 on the max 6 combo and call it a day. Make sure to get some fans too.
