all purpose grease ok for plastic and metal gearboxes? I just put some grease on my gears for my rc buggy the gears are brass and plastic

Yup. For the tranny gears all purpose grease is fine. Do not put any on the spur or pinion gears though.
 
I've used general purpose grease many times before and have never had issues.
 
When I raced my TA RC10T's and Nitro GT's, no one used any Grease or lube on the trans. gears back then. Manuals would have stated to if that was the case. It only created drag. And supposedly plastic gears were self lubricating??? :unsure:
Modern car kits now advise a lube more so?
Lubes are good. Just don't need much. That's all.
Metal on metal gears need it definitely. Just never on the spur and pinion, like @slick2500 stated above.
