I figured I'd start a thread in here since I don't plan on keeping me Kraton 8s stock. Some things I am thinking about:

Servo upgrade. I saw the Arrma video on how to adjust the BEC. He said you can run the stock servo on 8.4v but it will shorten its life. I am fairly certain it is the same servo that came with my SRR and it struggled in it. I will probably go with the 1/5 scale Savox or this Spektrum, which is what I run in my SRR:

I plan on running the stock electronics for a bit before I decide on whether to upgrade or not. The ESC is very similar to what is in my Super Rock Rey and it performs very well in that truck. The weight of my SRR is very close to the new Kraton. If I do decide to upgrade it will either be a Max5 or the 1/5 scale Castle ESC.

I've heard that testers have gone to 2.5 million diff fluid (paste ?) for the center diff. I'll have to see what I can find.

I am going to bind the truck to my DX5 Rugged.

That's all I have so far. Once M2C starts producing parts I will be all over it ???

These pinion gears for the new K8S are premolded correct? So they already come with flat edge in the gear that then slides over the motor shaft, then held on by a C clip correct? I'm very curious how strong you feel that is when you get in that area!??

Ooh I don’t like the sound of that ..!!
@bicketybam hurry up and get yours and strip it down so we can see..???
I really want one, but the price over here in the U.K. is just crazy..?
For now I’ll just have to watch you with yours, enjoy it..???

This is the stock pinion:

From what I gather, the pinion is wider than most mod 1's so if you go with a non Arrma pinion you need to use a couple of small bearings with the 5mm holes to seat the pinion snug and so it meets the end clip. I'll definitely post pictures when I get to it.

I can not find the 23t pinion online? I don’t have stores that sell Arrma products in town.

I'm going to use a generic 23t mod 1 pinion, most likely from Robinson Racing.

Yea, right under the 17 has the flat side in the Pinion gear... Seems like a smart improvement, I was just weary of the C Clip on the motor post and the strength of it on a 30+ volt power system. After you play with it some, hearing what you might find as positive or negative on that newer setup, will suffice for me. Thanks!

Love it! Hasn't even run it, and already making it better. Ed, you need to buy a kit from someone and build the baddest rc around. M2C has all kinds of upgrade chassis' for other brands. Why not build something from all aftermarket and upgrade parts? It's how most of our rigs end up anyways, so why not just build one from start to finish?

Smart move from a warranty standpoint using the c-clip to keep the pinion on the shaft if it ever worked its way loose.
I hear ya on that. Mainly why I was asking Bickety how he felt that set up was when he was able to get more in depth with it. My initial thought is probably the same as yours with this pinion gear setup, is that going to hold with that type of power system running it!?!! I guess, per all the driving the videos so far no one has had an issue with that area. Although, I don't think anyone has really changed/upgraded anything in that area so far either....

How did the pinion work out? I was going to buy the same one if it worked well.

Worked fine ? I have a video of what we did. It will be up later.

In the meantime, some Kraton porn for you all ???
