Hello Arrma forum I was wondering if the hot racing Shock bodies are any good compared to just getting the 6S typhon shocks do the hot racing ones still bend Shock shafts because that’s the main problem I have with the stock ones.

And one more thing are the Arrma steel gears worth getting my stock plastic ones striped after 5 packs through my typhon only ob 3S not even 4s because mines 4s capable, I did some math and it looks like you’d have to go trough two sets of plastic ones to cover the cost of one metal ring and pinion and do the steel gears ever strip on 3s and 4s?

Ring gear

Input gear

Diff cup

Is this all I need to convert to steel gears?

Just go to JRC(Jenny's RC)and get the new V2 4s Outcast/Kraton diffs and input gears... You get a pair of input gears, with bearings, for the same money as just the gear from Amain... and for a few more bucks, you get the entire assembled diff with planetary gears and output shafts and then you'll have your old diff cup and planetary gears as spares in case something happens later on. I would also skip the HR shock bodies and go right to the 6s shocks, you get bigger shafts, rod ends, and oil capacity then just switching to the HR bodies... and who doesn't want a bigger shaft.....🤪

Thanks for the tips what do you think of the new k4 v2 shocks and then just limiting the travel because they also have the 4mm shafts?

What would you recommend for driveshafts? Are these good?

Should I use the new k4 v2 shocks with the new taller Shock towers from the k4 v2 to compensate for the longer shocks and I’d get more travel.

Very likely the 4s shocks are too long for the 3s Shock towers. Typhon 6s shocks are a good fit. I have also used mojave front shocks on the rear of the 3s. Just double check the length. The geometry of the 4s towers will not work with the much shorter 3s arms.

Ok good to know I will be getting the 6s typhon shocks.

Should this solve my driveline issues.

Yes, if you changed shock towers as well, you could run the 4s shocks... but, and take this from someone who did exactly what you're about to do, get a new 4s truck if you really want to stay with that platform

Make sure to shim those diffs so they engage the gears fully. Should be smooth and spin free but full mesh on the gears.

I was really hard on them though. And 17 mm hex adapters seem to put particular stress on the axles.
I still find the stock axles to be plenty strong it’s really the diff that die early on.

I went through so many stub axles that I ended up taking off the 17mm hex adapters and went back to the Typhon stub axles and hexes.

Yup, those are damn strong. I just put a set of typhon axles, arms etc on my granite which I like to send. That’s what broke most of the stock axles, as well as the CVD axles. Pretty much any kind of jumping stressed them out much.

Makes sense every car I’ve put a hex extender kit on everyone have broke the stub axles.
Any must have upgrades for the 3s line.
