I decided to get my boy a Senton blx back in March as an early bday gift, and I mean way early. His bday is now coming up in a week from today and let’s just say Senton was in need of a refresh. Over the last few months we’ve beaten on this thing and it keeps coming back for more. My major down time only began when we found loose/dry dirt. We quickly went through 2 motors this way.
What has started as a hobby and time spent with my kids outside has become a full on addiction. I blame the forum! Seriously though, I titled this boring as to the more senior hobbyist this is a mild build but to me it was my first real step into doing more than just general maintenance. Without the forum and member insight I’d be in the dark so thank you to you all.
As you can see she was in poor shape.
I decided to try and fix the poor design of dirt getting into the motor housingsince this is what I’m sure led to motor bearings failing.
I went with a hobbystar 3670 3020kv motor. Going to leave it with a 15t pinion for now. I also went with the steel spur this time around.
I kept the esc stock for now as well. It’s been good to me so far so I left it alone.
For wheels and tires I went with proline lp trenchers on raid adjustable hex wheels for the stock 14mm hexes. The offset is pretty far out there so we’ll see how it holds up. I was back and forth on going full on monster truck but decided to stay close to stock tire size. I still had to trim the rear to minimize some rub.
I felt some customizing was in order so I sanded down some stock springs and color matched them to the new body. I’m not expecting these to hold up. Really just to look cool before he gets his hand on the remote.
And lastly the final result.
Upgrade list -
Fast eddy bearing kit.
25kg servo(testing with stock saver before k124)
Hobbystar 3670 3020kv motor.
HR Adjustable motor mount.
HR pivot balls.
Tbone front bumper.
Arrma motor fan.
Steel 57t spur.
15T pinion.
All else has been kept factory and has seen basic maintenance.
I need to reinforce the body still before his bday and I think I’ll put another factory rear bumper on since this one is tweaked some.
