Hello everyone,
I'm currently looking for a switchable BEC (controlled via channel 3 or 4 on my remote control) to power some lights on my Senton.
Ideally the BEC should allow to modulate the power to the lights.

Would you have any proposal or even a feedback on something you have already installed?

Thanks
Gilles

This RC remote control has been good for me.

I have a button programmed to turn lights off and on for a few rigs like the Infraction, BR, etc. But for the vast majority, I let them power on with the RC. Truly helps me since I bash in the dirt to have on and see red lights for red and amber/white for the front.

That doesn’t sound like the best approach, since an external BEC is not switchable, and can’t be used in the receiver unless you disconnect the red wire from the ESC.
There are very simple switches for about $5.00 that be operated/switched from the radio. If you want a seperate BEC then that would power the entire receiver, including servo, lights, gyro, etc. Again, the red wire has to be removed from the ESC.
What you are asking is possible, but you would have to wire the BEC to the lights only and then run a control only switch to the receiver. It would be much easier to use an external BEC in the manner they were designed for, which is to bypass the internal BEC in the ESC in order to feed power to the receiver.
If you left your system as-is and “switched” a BEC on an aux receiver channel it would potentially fry your ESC and would certainly fry your receiver.
Also, you may consider a small LiPo or LiIon battery for your lights.

I agree, this is the way to do it. Just let the receiver power it unless we’re talking about some massive bank of lights or something.

thanks to all of you for your answer.
Well in fact I bought (from a friend) a Traxxas pro light kit:

So I'm having now a power amplifier, reason why I was looking for the BEC. But maybe I could power the lights directly from the receiver. This "amplifier" from Traxxas seems also to modulate the light, and I just need something which does "on/off"

Whaaaaaaat?!?!?!?! $150.00?!?!?! And you still need an “on/off” switch? WOW, man…. Not to be a total appendage, but you could have done that yourself for $20.00 on AliExpress. Here’s your on/off switch:

well, I got mine for 30$ and a beer as my buddy completely smashed his traxxas :)

We had a few more beer after the first one and maybe I forgot his explanation on how to connect it :)

Thanks for the link, maybe I need to give you more details: I'm looking for an on/off switch I can control from the receiver.
