Update.

Some additional items showed up.

- Ripple Killer 8S Pack. Not sure if I will ever go 8S, but just in case ?. Will install with my current setup. Thanks to @phildogg for the quick turnaround time!

- Skyrc Gyro. Can’t wait to actually know how fast my rigs actually go. Probably a lot slower then I think ?.

- LED front and rear lights & and upper LED light bar from Banggood. Took about 2.5wks from China.

That’s not a SkyRC gyro ??‍♂️??‍♂️??‍♂️

That’s a GPS ?????

Update.

- Installed the Ripple cap pack. The location is the best I could figure out with the esc mounted across the center diff and location of the battery wires in relation to the cap pack location and wires... you guys get what I’m saying! I ended up adding a slotted bracket and secured it to the esc mounting plate and then I I secured the cap pack via Velcro to the bracket (similar to how batteries are held in place). Pretty solid, still not sold on the location though.

- Soldering the cap pack to the esc wasn’t too difficult, but flux is a must for me to get the solder to take even after a good amount of tinning all the contact points. End result was pretty clean after I touched it up with my dremel so it wouldn’t tear up the black tape. Probably try some heat shrink as well to clean it up a bit. Happy with my soldering skills to this point...

- Added the Skyrc GPS to the rear cab with 3M double lock. We’ll see how this holds up over time. I also black taped the top and rear covers of the GPS to the main body. The plastic tabs that hold the battery and the top are very weak and I actually snapped off one tab on the top by trying to remove the GPS from the 3M double lock during a test fit. Otherwise the unit is pretty self explanatory in terms of functions. Excited to try it out this week.

- I decided to go with Kill Mode RC TP Power 2700KV or 2900KV motor for my rig on 6S. It’s about $200 shipped without a cap pack. Other choices I was considering Cordorva Research 1433 and Posideon 1800. I’m going to stay with 6S since I just got my 3S SMCs batteries. 8S can wait! Gearing is another question, but I’ll wait and see where I’m at with stock spur and speed pinion before changing that out...

Decided to change up the direction of this build. Going to convert it to 132ft drag rig. First timer here, so figured it will be fun to try something else. Picked up some new items from Kill Mode and castle. Leo at Kill Mode has been awesome answering my setup questions. Definitely positive experience working with him... highly recommended!

Going with an EMP titanium spool with 43T spur/25 pinion to start with from https://www.islandhobbynut.com in NY. Should get that later in the week.

I have the same setup in my drag limitless. It's fast on 6s but crazy fast on 8s.

The EMP spool drive cups are soft. Swap them out for the arrma cups.

really, ok... I’ll swap them!

Didn’t realize I could run the 2900 on 8S... very cool. Might hit u up on XLX settings... definitely new to the castle.

what spur/pinion you see working well for 132ft?

34T spur is a good starting point. Learn how to use data logger on the XLX. For drag racing you can run the 2900 on 8S for 3 second or less pulls, but I wouldn't recommend it for parking lot bashing. Once you go all in on a drag set up in your esc, the rc basically is dedicated to drag racing and no more parking lot bashing. One last thing, your remote setup is as important as setting up your esc parameters.

Most of the prepped races don't allow avc, but a lot of the no prepped races allow it. Honestly, avc can reduce your top speed depending how you set your priority. If you dial in your suspension and other esc/remote settings, you really don't need it for racing. It takes a lot of track time to become good at it.

All the YT races I’ve seen are people crossing in the first 10 feet. Hard to find videos of guys who can keep it in their lane. Surprised they don’t do a center barrier.

That happens a lot in no prep, but once they dial in their suspension and power curve, it leads to fast and close races. It's not easy to go both straight and fast. Takes a lot of test and tuning.

Quick update. Been busy with work ?‍♂️

parts received from IslandHobbyNut
- EMP spool
- BSR purple foams 1/8 scale — noticed that these are quite bigger than stock rolling diameter. There isn’t another size option or is there?
- 25t pinion to start with
- 43t spur — ordered a 8mm center shaft! Damn, need to reorder.
- AmpedRC SupaHD 8mm shafts. Installed, had to remove some material around the bottom section of the front brace. Seems like the rear brace will be ok, will see when I run it. I’m pretty sure the shaft will make its way through the plastic if it’s close anyway... thanks to a forum member for selling me these from across the pond! That’s the arrma family fellas! @KiTris ExtremeRC
