Used that approach before, what a PITA to install. Worked better with those 2 half shells, ripped it out long time ago though.

I constructed a spreading brace out of wood.

It's ridiculous how much more run time I now get!

My motor runs pretty cool

Before my "mod" I couldn't touch the motor (Senton 3S stock motor/gearing on 3S) for more than 3-4 seconds. Now it runs cool.

I did the same thing with thermal tape on my 4985 motor in the K6s. Works great.

I bought some thermo paste for that use, a while ago but never used it. I decided I didn't want to deal with the mess. But that pad would be better but can imagine it would be a pita to fit.
