So as title suggests. My son stripped his first spur the other week tried to adjust after it developed almost a burnt plastic smell just not as putrid. Got a new spur installed tonight it’s running but I still notice the smell? Did we burn up the brushed motor or any thoughts?

If it smells like burnt electronics then most likely it is. It could still run for a while but just know it is on borrowed time. Those brushed motors are cheap and are considered a consumable item.

While I get that. We’ve been running this for a couple months now and it just happened. So that’s why I thought something different anyway.

It's the magic smoke, coming out slowly. Once, brushed was all we had. I would pull it apart as well as you can and look it over. Brushed motor faults are usually obvious under visual, and can sometimes be recovered.
