One of my friends has decided to jump into the hobby, and he grabbed a Granite Voltage as his first RC. I won't be there to help him get set up, so other than checking the spur/pinion mesh, what should I tell him to check before he runs it? Have you guys run into any issues straight out of the box?

No need to check spur mesh on the voltage as it uses pre-drilled holes. I would make sure to set steering endpoints before driving.

The weak point on those trucks is the out drive cup. They will strip and it’s worth having extras on hand. Easy to replace. Part number: AR310862.

Lastly, the weight of the ferrite cores causes the motor solder joints to fail. Moving the cores closer to the ESC helps a lot.
