Kraton Permatex Orange?

Hello,

Can someone please advise me which thread lock to use? I was gonna buy the Permatx orange based on description, but figured I better check here first. I hear mostly about blue Permatex being used. Looking for all around use. Plan to upgrade and fix 6S Typhon, 4S V2.5 Kraton, and 3S Big Rock. Thank you!

I prefer the blue for everything. Orange is stronger but still removable.

I’m pretty darn sure I’ve experimented with all Loctite/Permatex products over the years. I tend to use 222 (purple liquid) or 242 (blue liquid). Never had a screw loosen on its own with either.

I use red on 8S-12S pinions, orange on pinions 6S and below, and blue on everything else.

There's also green. Seeping type for already installed bolts. I've used it on equipment.

4 colors and lots of variations in between.

purple - low strength
blue - medium strength
green - penetrating threadlockers - no need for disassembly for application
red - high strength

Orange can handle heat better than blue on pinions. Blue 242 on everything else.

you gotta make sure you get the right green though because loctite 603 is green but its retaining compound and you aren't removing it without alot of heat

I use orange all the time, it works great on pinion set screws, but you will most likely need heat for removal! I've never had a pinion screw loosen up with the orange!
