I've had this in the works for a while, ran a 111mph 4s pb with tp4060cm-3480kv 40×92 yesterday...about to be off work an run tp5660 1460kv..both motors ran in same car with same pack..both motors geared as close to the same as I could get...I'll compared logs an differences in power, handling,an performance..here's gearing I'm running..results will be posted by the end of the day

I'm quite interested in this! I currently have a 1717 and xlx2 and I'm moving to 8s soon once I get some more stuff in the mail and I'm trying to decide on a motor. 4070cm or a big can motor. So although your situation is 4s I feel like it's the same situation that I'm stuck between. I'm going to try the 1717 first and just see what I get from it. I know it isn't a bad motor but I see most speed runs with TP

Today with 5660 1st pass 104mph and 2nd pass gps didn't pick up🤬..both horrible passes...bad starts,an trigger pulls...2nd pass sounded much better but lower rpms..I believe it do much better on clean pass...working on uploading a pass vid from each motor.i feel these are not comparable logs..need 1 good, clean pass with 5660 for me to feel good about comparison.ive got 20ish runs with 4060..need couple more with 5660..the extra 400 grams of weight is very noticeable...the torque difference is amazing... feels like the motor stays right with your trigger pull where's the 4060 feels like you're giving it throttle and the motor is trying to catch up to your throttle input...Temps much lower on fanless 56mm..the 56mm motors are amazing,it's the 400+grams that hurts it...the extra mass an torque would murder a stock CENTER drivtrain so modified spool, center shafts, input cups, rear bulkhead or diff housing is a must..that's 300-400$ just for those parts...

Already planning taller gears for 5660..i have this 27t..10mph gain on calculator..these 8mm gears are 20-30$ a pop...bout to throw a 27t spool together.saga sent me this 20t 8mm gear by mistake...with a minimum TTC of 71 on pps not much ya can do with a 20t..go 20mph with a 20/51 or go 200mph with a 51/20😆😅🤣😂 with 20t spur could speedrun with 600kv motor..lol

You somewhat newer speedrun guys I'd advise going with a 5650 or 5660 under 1500kv.with summer around the corner the 40s will get hot on ya quik, usely burning them down.the 56s put the power down better an less crazy as the 40s..the 40s on 8s can get away from ya quiker..guess the torque an extra weight of the 56s make them more controllable.the 56mm are cheaper at 160$ for a 5660 compared to a 4070cm being 200ish..56mm requires 8mm gears that are more expensive..JUST MY 2 CENTS AN OPINIONS..

I thank you for your opinions! You are backing up my thought process though being that the 56 will just be a power house and get the speed quick and easily compared to the 40

Yes,that's pretty much what Im Saying...8s is insane with these cars..you will have expensive crashes that can total out a car..they happen soo fast.patence an quik to pull plug on running car is something I've struggled with..you must have an do these 2 things or else you'll have a bad speedrunning experience fast..if anything on car isn't or doesn't feel right don't RUN THE CAR.many hrs gos into being successful and accomplishing your goals in speedrunning.after every 130+ run screws will be loose an even missing.30 seconds of extreme rpms, vibrations will do some $hit..I'm gonna continue gearing up on both of these motors an running them daily, posting logs on this thread an see which motor does best..very surprised to see amps, ripple an voltage drop on close or better than 4060..not much difference in logs like I expected at this point with 2 pass on 56..the torque difference is night an day..both motors need geared up before I'll start seeing diffrences.so that's what I'll do.gear um up together

Why should you have to spend that money? it is a 6S rig not a 4S, 3S, or a MAGA. (You can replay here or in PM whatever you want)

Agreed, for most if you have the budget, start with a 5660 versus a 4070 or 4060
I am liking the Hobao VTE2 for its out of the box strengths / cost savings to have a 120-150 mph car, but the Arrma cars will always have that special place in the hobby and can be great with some investment into the weak points.

I highly recommend learning the car on 4s or 6s for anyone new. You can go 120-150 on 4s-6s and learn a lot along the way. 8s is difficult to control and could help you exit the hobby with expensive crashes.

I understand sticking with 6s might be the smart option. But honestly I am shocked at how comfortable 124 felt. I do realize that it's going to get a good bit more sketchy though as I go up. I just want to run 8s because I want the power and what not. Plus part of the fun of speed running for me is being a little bit sketched out lol. Gets the blood pumping

So my plan was to buy the 2028 1100kv XLX2 combo for the new build. Now I'm rethinking that. Should I go TP5660 instead?
1100kv is great sensored, never ran 1 ,but I imagine it's just as good, but cost more.tp is great quality with more kv options an cheaper..that's why I've always ran them.ive never owned a castle motor, have seen alot of negative 1717 stuff on this forum thou

Hmmm. Well I got some thinking to do for sure. I was looking at the 5660 already and trying to decide between the 1356 or 1460kv. You have experience with both? I was leaning towards the 1460

I bought the 5660 1450 last night! Pumped

Nice! I’m still trying to make up my mind. Still have a ways to go on the build. Waiting for a few things to be back in stock from scorched so I can proceed. Also waiting on Vitavon bulkheads arriving via Slowboat. Once it’s a 100% roller then it’s go time for electronics.

I have both, both run equally well,1356 is d-wind..1460 y wind..I prefer y..also check out the 5650...56×82..check out @jondilly1974 infraction build an ut vid..I believe he ran 5650-1920kv to pbz last year 146ish mph,but I think he had some xlx2 issues
Here's a thread I did last year when I ordered them motors.some info on them on it.

Awesome thanks. I prefer Y also. That may be the motor I'll get. If I don't like it then I'll buy another. Nothing wrong with a motor collection. I'll see if I can find direct comparisons for the 2028 and 5660. Nothing else to do. It's friday, have a beer, kids are about to go to bed

My first tp motor was a 4070cm 2200
Kv. Great motor for speed running.
I’ve done 150 on 8s and 140 on 6s with it.

With that said, the biggest difference I’ve noticed with the big cans is just the huge drop in heat after a run. I’ve gone almost back to back runs with maybe a few minutes between runs doing 155+
4070 will be 160+ degrees after a run,
My 5680 after a run would be 120 or below,
I also have a 5660 1636kv that I’ve bashed with shredding tires on an infraction and the motor gets wArm at best after full throttle for 5+ minutes.
I’ve also built my buddies car using a 5670 and he’s currently at 158mph with his. Temps are low.

You’ll use the massive torque they have in the big cans
Or you use the rpm over long distance with the 4070cm.

At the end of the day the big cans produce more watts, I’ve done 17,000+ watt runs with mine,
But ample battery supply is required. That was using 10,00ah of cnhl 70c batteries, 4 batteries
