YepI hope you bought new diffs to match the input gears. ??
Rw 17t - 48 Dp (5mm shaft) pinionI just bought the mega going to do the same thing. Just wondering what pinion your using? It looks fantastic.?
You have a missing digit in the part number. It’s AR310773Very much a newbie and scanned all outlets here in Aus. Struggling to find AR30773 17T pinion gear as part of upgrade package you sourced. Any alternatives that will still do the job?
Hi mate. Yes sorry my typo at this end. No luck sourcing The part. All outlets out of stock. You have a missing digit in the part number. It’s AR310773
Hey,Hey OP! Does the rear end have to be disassembled that far to remove the diff?
Shocks off and so on?
Oh you are so right!Hey,
The rear end doesn't have to be completely disassembled. There is a mega 'how to video' posted in the forums and it works exactly like. you just remove 3-4 screws on the bottom of the chassis (the ones that reach to the two sides of the assembly) and then you can tip the top of the assembly forward and remove the differential. To remove the axles from the diff use a good hex key, not an allen key. Trust me. Also removing the bearings from the input gear (if you are changing to Hd or BLX ones) is a royal pain in the a** and putting them is too.
That is a good idea. The one bearing i took out and put back in I chipped it at the top (using a flat screw driver to try and take it out...). At first i was going to let it stay like that (just a small chip), but since i haven't put the car back together i just bought replacement bearings and going to replace it... So i am back to square one (changing both input gears) and i will be following your suggestions.Oh you are so right!
Getting the bearings on and off the inputs included bleeding and foul language!
Then I put the inputs in cold water and used a hair dryer on the new bearings and it went better. I should use the freezer next time but we got one done: the rear.
