080 RC - LARGE Scale RC Muscle Cars
Hello All!
"080" began before the pandemic. I wanted an RC scale muscle car more than I wanted a scale truck/crawler. No one made one. Everything was just a toy with a nice body....i wanted a V8, IFS, a rear axle...you know the cool stuff...
When we got locked down the first time I set out to build my muscle car. I chose to do a 1967 Ford Mustang as the body. I wanted it big, really big. I found the biggest tires available which happened to be the freshly released ARRMA Felony tire set. I pined over them, to be honest. They were exactly what I was looking for, and in this world of RC....that is a high all on its own.
I ordered a set immediately.
The 1st 1st was an SCX frame with the RC4WD V8. I modeled and printed an IFS system...but it was all toooo small, and restrictive.
I wanted something new. I wanted to break the system.
I built the first 080 car completely out of foam-core. everything, the frame rails, the engine, everything. it was awesome. the only thing that was real were the tires. Then I took pictures and cut it apart to reverse engineer the entire thing to put into Solidworks.
cut to the chase....1000hrs, 20 rolls of plastic, blood, sweat, tears, heartbreak, and one and a half years later
I have the first version ready for sale. It's not perfect, but It is cool.
It is absolutely a "SCALE" RC vehicle experience, haha... Things break, easily and often. When real cars run into things...it damages them badly, sometimes catastrophically. This RC experience mimics that.
There are two versions.
The Original...
Long and Narrow for real muscle car builds
The Felony...
Shorter and WIIIIDDDEERRR...runs Felony body
One problem, I can't wait any longer to sell them. It's either share them and make enough money to keep going or I have to stop. It's every builder's hope that people love their creations. I'm hoping this creation is cool enough people buy one.
End goal...Use the money from selling these to start a real RC company with good products that started from the community.
specs:
1/7 scale - runs 6S
16" & 19" wheelbase
Twin Frame rail
V8 motor-case w/ custom add-ons
Full Custom Transmission with E-REVO gears
IFS
Front and Rear Sway bars
Arrma Felony Motor and ESC
Arrma Felony Tires and Wheels
rear 3 link
The beginning.....SCX based and small
Then when I realized things needed to be epic I went full send em'
all foam..all crazy
After I got it to this point...I got really excited. This thing was huge...and rad.
Once I had this...I cut it up and copied it into Solidworks. Part by Part.
This is next version. I got the body and scaled it as big as my printer would go. Magically this matched the tires perfectly
