Welcome to the forum. Is your Limitless a v2? if so a 32t is the place to start. How fast are you looking to go? 32T should put over 100 mph but you are going to need a lot of good road!

i need pinion ideas for my 8s limitless i have a xlx2 and a 2028/1700kv
Get as many as you can afford (they add up quick...a hidden cost of speed running rarely spoken of). And get a center spool. Aside from the propulsion benefits they can provide, they also make it possible to share the same gears for pinion and spur gear (assuming your motor, which in this case it does, has an 8mm shaft).

That's a Top Gear Top Tip to save a little of that hard earned cash. :)

Aside from that, what they said. ☝️

Is there something wrong with the stock spool?
Generally speaking, no. However, and please correct me if I'm wrong cuz I might be misremembering, if memory serves, the v2 spool has a through hole for those grub screws on Viagra® to work with the Arrma style spur gears and lacks a flat area to snug your regular grub screw up against. Not that you couldn't grind your own flat spot and make it work as round faces aren't well suited for your more typical gear type and Arrma's own selection of spur & pinion gears is a bit anemic but that was the general thought behind "getting" a center spool (though it would have to be a Pinocchio style spool for the v2 motor position and drive shaft arrangement).

Welcome. What Spur do you have, 34t or 39t?
Also, you should start with 4S then 6S then 8S.
Starting with 8S only gives you power and not knowledge, a tuned 4S car can go much faster than most people's 8S cars.
If you have a 34t spur I would start with 28-31/34 on 4S that should get you about 80mph on your 1st pass. If you have the 39t I would start with a 32-34t pinion on 4S.

I’ll piggy back and subbed. I want to know too. But for a Felony that I want to run Limitless gearing. Good stuff gentlemen!

If you're just getting your feet wet in speed running, definitely start out on lower voltage as @TN-RC suggested. I'd even go one further and start on 3S, provided you have a sufficiently long road (lower voltages require a slower trigger pull to help counteract voltage sag). I learned more about speed running on 3S than I ever did on 6S. The speeds are lower giving you more time to react to the inevitable and unexpected things that the car and the environment will do while at the same time forcing you to really get the car dialed in to go faster rather than simply throwing more power at it (which will inevitably end in disaster because not enough time was invested in understanding how to set the car up and how to tweak it so that it's stable). Even on 3S speeds north of 130mph are possible.

When you say Limitless gearing, are you referring to the v1 or v2? If v2, you would need to drill new holes for the motor mount as it's in a different location than where the Felony/Infraction has it. What motor/ESC combo are you intending to use and how many cells do you aim to start with?

I have now changed my mind. lol. I already have a Mamba X and 1717 combo. I’ll stick to FELONY gearing. lol. Thanks for the quick lesson @Diem Turner Ill just stick with what I have sir! 🤜🏻🤛🏻😂 I’m already running 6-8s.

Top notch good sir o7 :)

What they all said. Start slow and get the car dialed, you will be in up to speed in no time with less carnage and less heartache.

I started on 4S, which is easy because you can use a jumper for the second battery. Your first runs will seem slow which is good. The car take some ... alot of tuning to get it to fly straight. Some of that depends on your road too. When I was good with 4S and it's going straight on a good road then I put in 8S and dialed down the performance to about 50%, then worked up from there.

As stated in other posts, look at the gear calcs and see how fast you want to go. The calculation is ideal with no friction, no drag and infinite current, so subtract about 20-25%. That should give you and idea of the speed. Of course the real fun is making the runs to see if you were right.

Keep in mind that a 15 lb car at 100 mph is going to get someone an ambulance ride if you hit them (or yourself) so make sure you have plenty of space and spectators are kept at a distance.

its a v2 i think im gonna put a 48/23 gear ratio

thanks so much!

that's way to high. your stuff will just cut, or the batteries will get stressed. If 48/23 would work, you would go over 300mph.
If you are going to start with 8S you should do a max ratio of 2/3
I got 104mph on 8S with a 160A ESC under 90% power with 28/34 gearing about the same kv motor.

im trying to get 150+ what gearing should i run??

Feeling stupid today, what does "o7" mean exactly?
Not at all, I thought you'd never ask :D

It's a guy saluting.

Where did the 48 come from? The V2 Should’ve came with a 39. I have a question for those who know (V2 Limitless) what number goes in the transmission portion of the gear calculator 3.30 2.80 I’m a little confused as to what to put in there sometimes.
