Big rock v3 OUTCAST 4S shocks

Hi guys. I put ara330720 and ara330721 shocks on my big rock v3 3s with standard springs from KRATON/OUTCAST 4S. But I had to limit the piston travel with internal washers (17mm at the rear and 11mm at the front). Everything seems to look great, but in the front shocks, the lower rod guard was resting a bit on the lower arm. I trimmed it with wire cutters and everything was fine. Is this a normal practice? Or should I have ordered different shocks?

Part of this hobby is modifications and tweaks. If it works, roll with it and share it with others. A working hack/tweak for a function is a good thing if, in the end, it brings the expected outcome!

No that isn't normal because the 4s shocks do not work properly on the 3s line. The 4s fronts will work on the rear of the 3s but the rears are far too long. Even if you make them the proper length you are severely limiting your suspension up travel and your handling will suffer as a result. The shocks especially in the rear will bottom out long before you reach maximum up travel.

Thank you so much for the review! In the video below, I've filmed how the shocks work. It looks like there is enough travel when the BB is lowered to the ground. But even so, I adjusted the length like the original ones and there is no tension when the shock is unclamped.

That's fine if you are only driving in a straight line. How far does it lean?
