Im new at this and have a set of mx28 badlands that fit my typhon 3s and it be nice if I could run it in grass better. I've heard some things about changing fluids or pinion gears to not damage things. Should I just send it or change some things first?

Being wider and taller they will cause a little extra strain on the transmission but you should be ok with the stock pinion

If I was to change anything for these tyres, it would be to adjust the slipper to accommodate the extra weight

Will be fine. I've ran them on my typhon 3s before. Maybe loosen the slipper slightly because of the extra weight, plus extra traction. I run MX28s on my granite all the time and never had an issue.
