The switch might of soldered itself together so it’s acting like and continuation of the cord

Ok so I will need a replacement
Why?
As long as the esc is working good, run it!
It is common practice on some ESCs to cut off the switch and solder the ends together, eliminates one failurepoint.

Just make certain your radio is switched on before connecting the battery.
