I so often spend hours searching for parts. I really wouldn't walk way before i found the esc.

I searched for a good while, but the brush was full of prickers, about 4 feet tall, and extended back a loooong way. And I don’t have access to a metal detector otherwise I would be sweeping! Just an absolute needle in a haystack.

When parts were flying, i always mark the crash spot and the further found part location. Makes a next day search a lot easier.

A metal detector could be useful, but it sounds like you need a machete

If it’s any consolation I lost a 1.0ah 3S lipo today when I crashed my Infraction. Had to put it in the ditch when the pinion and spur ate each other. Had no other choice at 100+mph.

Sorry to hear about the crash and loss of the XLX2.
Maybe check with some friends if anyone has some fishing waders that might allow you to get in there better?
I can empathize about the budget constraints....
