Yep tree infested with pine beetles the whole thing was full of holes and bleeding out sap everywhere.

Bugs like that are why we never take hole-ey wood into our house.
Bug holes aren't good for structural integrity. Especially if your house is nearing a century of age

Yea the pine beetle has devastated acres of pines all throughout the Ocoee River. Home 96' Olympic kayak etc. And where they filmed most of the movie Deliverance. Same river. Just farther up.

Took a much needed day trip and got out of town with the family. Went to Reno to the gem and mineral show and also played a round of mini golf as we have nothing like that where we live unfortunately. So here's some rock porn for those other rock hounds out there.

Ya it was awesome I did good though think only spent about $50 between me and the kids on goodies.

Ya I wish I knew of some good places to go dig some rock but ones I know of are a good long drive away. Really good spot for nice quarts crystals not too far and then another with lots of obsidian but nothing like that.
*edit* actually I know someone that has a rainbow obsidian mine about an hour away and he finds all kinds of stuff. Not sure if you've seen rainbow obsidian before but it's gorgeous. I'd bet if you look it up online you'd probably see some of his stuff he's located in northern California close to the Nevada border
