I just had this happen tonight. How did you sand the shaft?

Once it's out I just use some pretty aggressive sandpaper and hold the shaft with the paper and spin it with my other hand a bunch of times. I keep checking to see if it fits as I go that way I'm not going too crazy with it.

I suppose a better way would be a Dremel and grind down the bulged edges before you pull the shaft out
