So i recently put a quicrun 16bl30 and hobbypark motor in my grom. it was working well (aside from being entirely too fast for its own good. I was playing around with some of the programming because my reverse was my forward and forward was much faster than my reverse (which was my forward). anyhow. whatever i did i now have no forward or reverse, i can steer left and right just fine but it doesn't do me much good since it wont run. has a spektrum SLR300 receiver and a SLT3 transmitter. Ive tried going through the programming but had no luck. Wondering if its possible i lost that channel on the reciever? if thats a thing? Thanks for any advice.

I would try to reset the esc before anything else, then recalibrate the throttle.

Reset All Items To Default Values.
At any time when the throttle is located in neutral zone (except in the throttle calibration or parameters program process), press and hold the “SET” key for over 3 seconds, the red LED and green LED will flash simultaneously , which means each programmable item has be reset to its default value.

Swap the Steering servo over to the ESC channel and see if ST. works. To rule out the RX. first. If it does Steer on the ESC channel, could the a bad ESC.
Did you try recalbrating the ESCs' EPA with the radio? Per the ESC manual.

So I came across that default reset option in the manual. And it does not appear to work if the lights are any indication, I don’t get the green/red flash when I hold my set button. I switched the steering and throttle and when I turn the steering wheel I get full throttle. Seems unusual that both the esc and receiver would go out simultaneously however I suppose some type of electrical issue could fry an esc or analog channel on the receiver (I assume it’s analog atleast) I also cannot calibrate the throttle on the transmitter by holding set and powering on esc.

bad receiver - can confirm.

really good escs those quicruns for the price. have two 150a versions they have lasted years

Yeah it seems like a decent ESC so far. I’m pretty sure the issue I was having is all receiver related. Things fried on the throttle side so I would imagine that’s why the esc won’t reset to defaults or calibrate the throttle obviously. I’ll find out tomorrow.
It was cool and all to upgrade to brushless on the grom but I think that 4800kv motor is maybe a bit much. It’s pretty difficult to control at high speed without flipping it 🤷‍♂️

RX's generally don't fail, unless you got them wet. Despite some of them being called WP or WR. An ESC with a Bad BEC circuit causing an Over voltage condtiton can also fry a Rx. Also been there.
I use Silicone conformal coating on my Rx PCB. Let dry for a day and install the case back on. Just avoid the Sil. coating on the Bind button if so equipped. Even if they say its WP already. This will really work.
>>>But to be honest, if your rig gets truly wet often, you are best to open the RX Box and air it out. Moisture WILL get in there. Rx Boxes are never 100% water proof sealed. Moisture gets in and stays there. Only takes a few drops of moisture and in time the Rx gets trashed. Sometimes not right away. Could be some months later.
99% of guys who run in the wet will never open the Rx box.
This is what I always used for some years now. MG brand. Brush on is the cheapest way to use this stuff. The price seems costly, but it is worth it. Price has doubled like everything else these days. Seems AMZ is still cheapest. Always store the bottle upside down, as it goes bad over time once unsealed and opened.

I run the 10bl60 SD in my minis a much better esc than the 16bl30 and it's only slightly bigger.

Hmmm… well now that I look at some specs I wonder if this may have something to do with the fact that I put in a 3s battery on a 16bl30 esc which specifies a 2s. The moisture damage seems likely though as well looking on the board of the receiver. As it is not in any type of housing. It was mounted where I could fit it. I think I’m going to take Hobo’s advice and go with the 10bl60 SD which supports the 3s 🤷‍♂️

Doubled? I swear I remember this stuff being $8 a bottle.

Yes it was way much cheaper Years back. And Ebay has it for like $38. now. I just recently got another for $25. AMZ. I went to use my old current one and it was all hardened up, sitting on its side.
It goes along way, just that once unsealed, and the fact you don't use it often, the last 1/2-1/4 of the bottle hardens and goes bad. I find if you store it perfectly upside down, you might have better luck. Sometimes the cap gets stuck. So I used a Heat gun to get the cap off.
