I mentioned the above, because I only use Holmes hobbies Brushed motors in my Crawlers and other vintage stuff I have here. Mr. Holmes hooks me up. Spoke with him before. He is the only serious brushed motor guy left around these days. But AMZ has cheapos as well. You need a low wind 0550 motor. Your old one looks like a Johnson Power tool motor.
Good luck.

For some reason I think small motors deserve fans so…yup, it works damn nicely. Lowered temps over 10 degrees, which is good when your garage is 95f.

Your original had a built-in fan, yes it's needed if you are running hours at a time or days.

If your speed control is bad, just buy a cheap one from Amazon.

No it didn’t. If you’re thinking about the brushed motors that have one inside the back of the can, this is not one of those. I have several others large ones that are though.
The circuit board is what died. To get rid of it because of that would be like throwing away an RC car because the esc went out. Besides, this is a cheap tumbler. But it is also my learning project. I have learned quite a bit so far off of it.

Wow... that speedo looks the part ..
Cheap too. Cheaper than the gear reduction.
Anyhoo..looks good!!

I’ve seen those but 12 bucks to adjust the speed on a 30 dollar tumbler is a bit much. I also just realize looking at it that it is 12 to 60 V range. The power source I already have a 12 V. A lower voltage, nonadjustable power source only cost 5-6 bucks anyway, so that’s what I got (7.5v, 1a) and it’s been working great. Thanks man!
