Hey guys. I've searched around the forum and YouTube and I can't find where someone has upgraded their Granite 3S Brushed spur gear to a metal one? My sos keeps shredding his spur gear and I would love to upgrade to metal. Is there one available?

Yeah apparently I suck at setting the mesh! haha. I've gone through 3 spur gears! Are you setting your gear mesh properly? Could also upgrade to the BLX gear box. I have been running the same spur gear in my brushless upgraded mega and w/ the mega slipper with no issues. I am using the BLX gear box.

That must mean you still have a 3mm motor shaft. Which brushless system did you buy? And would you recommend it?Are you setting your gear mesh properly? Could also upgrade to the BLX gear box. Sorry yes its a MEGA brushed. Which metal gear works because I thought it was this one and it doesn't look right. The center is too large. How would this work?Is it a brushed Mega or a brushless 3S? Brushed 3S doesn't exist.
If it's a brushed Mega, it sounds like a mesh setting issue or stuff getting in the power module destroying the gear.
If it's a 3S, there is a metal spur gear available from Arrma.
Oh gotcha. Thank you for the help. Will the BLX gearbox work on my MEGA that Yonic mentioned? This one will not work. It is the metal upgrade for the 3S slipper and the gear profile is different than on the Mega.
I am not aware of any metal upgrade for the mega.
Yes, the BLX slipper will work, but you will need to find a new 0.8mod pinion having the right hole diameter for the brushed motor shaft. I am not sure if this can be found.Oh gotcha. Thank you for the help. Will the BLX gearbox work on my MEGA that Yonic mentioned?
Very cool. Thanks!amain sells mod 0.8 pinion that comes with a sleeve to make them compatible with brushed shafts.

I have this system in mine and recommend it if you don't want to spend $50-60 more for the BLX spur assembly. That must mean you still have a 3mm motor shaft. Which brushless system did you buy? And would you recommend it?

But I can use this gear box on my Granite? What about the slipper assembly? Can I switch that up?
Thanks. You hit the nail on the head - I hope to avoid buying a new assembly. You mentioned 2S. Have you also run it on 3S? If so, how’d it go?I have this system in mine and recommend it if you don't want to spend $50-60 more for the BLX spur assembly.

Its pretty much a drop in fit. Can upgrade to a 17T pinion for a few more bucks that will speed it up too.

Hope this helps. This system works best on 2s also. Had trouble with the ESC and Nimh packs.

Appreciate it. Last question: did you see any battery/efficiency improvement transitioning from brushed to onyx? The mega gear won't handle 3s. 2s with the 17t pinion will get it moving pretty quick.
Also, check othe the video here if you aren't setting the slipper right after you're switching out the gears.
