Mojave My ripped off Mojavatoncast/Long road to the Mojave

Feel like I got lucky and came across a set of lightly used Vitavon wheels with Hyrax tires for 200 bucks. Pairing them with a set of Kyosho +11mm hubs and hoping to avoid the running issue most people have experienced.

For some reason over the last few weeks I’ve become obsessed with having a Mojave. Waited for sales or a good used deal to come along and got impatient and finally ordered the parts to turn this into one (parts ordered about a week before the sale, idiot me)

Kind of a hodge podge of rtr/EXB/m2c/upgraded parts. I’ll work on a build list, but electronics are obviously staying the same.

Very nice. I just did the conversion myself today from a Talion. Question for ya if you don’t mind. I noticed there are two mounting positions for the battery tray. Looks like one is close to the front of the chassis and one is closer to the rear like you have it. For weight distribution what do you think would be the best?

I currently have mine set in the rear position, but as I get some time on it, I will probably try both. I think people prefer to rear to help it from nose diving off jumps.

Fast forward to the good part!

It’s been finished and obviously abused. Initially I got it together without any driveline changes and for the most part was… unimpressed. Then I remembered I had a 15t pinion on it, after swapping to a 19t this thing is an ANIMAL! Blast in the grass and on the street. The body was new prior to me ripping around in the street a bit too much. Plenty of awesome planted power with the 19t/max6/1580kv set up. The vitavon wheels showed up missing a beadlock screw so I need to find a replacement for that and probably go through all 4 but so far I’m not regretting them with the +11mm Kyosho hubs. The scorched inner genders definitely help keep the grass and crap out.

Overall I’m happy to finally have a Mojave in my collection, I wouldn’t say it is my favorite yet but it is definitely a lot of fun.

Ran this pig for the first time in over a year. The Mojave still isn’t really my favorite, but it is pretty fun to rip around.
