DATE CHANGED TO THE 18TH DUE TO WEATHER!

Welcome to the Northern Illinois R/C Meetup!

NEW LOCATION - SEE BELOW

We meet the second Sunday of every month at 2 PM. Anyone is welcome to join with any make, model, or fuel type of vehicle. Spectators are welcome as well - encourage your non-R/C friends to come check it out so they can see the fun they are missing.

This month we are back at the new location, Indian Lakes Open Space. Indian Lakes was formerly a golf course that permanently closed at the end of the 2016 golf season. The golf course is now maintained by the Village of Bloomingdale as an open green space, using the old golf cart paths as hiking and biking trails. There are two large grassy areas right next to the parking area for off road bashing, along with a large open parking area for street bashing. The layout for the meetup is below. The satellite image from Google below is old, the building in the West off road bashing area was demolished (I'll update this with the Google Earth image soon!).

Street Bash Loop Direction
All cars need to go the same direction to avoid head-on collisions. All drivers need to communicate the track direction. Drivers can choose to change the track direction during the course of the meetup. Please communicate with all other drivers in the Loop Driver Area before changing directions so that everyone is aware.

DO
Bring any make, model, or fuel type of ground based R/C vehicle.

DO
Bring your family and friends.

DON’T
Bring your pets. No matter how well trained they are, there is always a possibility they can do something unpredictable, which could cause themselves or someone else to get hurt.

DON’T
Drive your R/C vehicle in the parking area. You may drive it to your bashing area of choice once you have left the parking area.

Vehicle Damage:
All collisions between R/C vehicles are considered no fault accidents. Collisions are an inevitable part of the hobby. No one is held responsible should damage occur to your R/C vehicle. Drive your R/C vehicle at your own risk.

@ZooKeeper Been eyeing this for a few days now!!! It makes me want to get some of my my bashers fixed, get my cameras and batteries all charged up up, get some pants on and come out of hiding  It's a good 1hr drive so not too far. Unfortunately I'm busy on the 11th, but are you guys having another meetup in October? If so I'll NEED TO GOOO!!!!

It would be great if you could come join us sometime! We meet the second Sunday of each month. October 9th will be the following meetup date.

Ill try. Plate been full for a while now.

Thinking about bringing my toddler son. He has a few rc’s and likes to bash around. Will there be anything for him to do that won’t be in other guy’s way?
My 5 y/o and 3 y/o should be there. They both have a Losi Mini-T 2.0. My 5 y/o also drives a Granite Mega often. They'll be excited to see other young kids driving cars rather than just a ton of adults.

FYI my kids are ramp hogs - they place their cars right in front of the ramp, launch their car, then hover around the ramp. Y'all have permission to tell them to move out of the way (or away from the "launch zone" as I call it). My wife will likely be there as well to help keep an eye on them.

This is funny and good to hear. My son does all of this as well.

I'm getting ready for the meetup on Sunday.

I have 5 vehicles to repair:
  • After bashing at the Roselle skate park over the Labor Day weekend
    • 3s Senton - Broken rear arm
    • 3s Granite - Broken front shock
  • My 5 y/o's Losi Mini-T - Broken front arm
  • My brother in laws Granite Mega - needs motor replacement
  • My neighbors 3s Typhon - broken turnbuckle, shredded spur gear, bent motor mount
All minor repairs, and there is still plenty of time until Sunday to get them all back up and running.

I helped my 5 y/o fix his Mini-T last night, and once he went to bed, I repaired the Senton. Found out my neighbor won't be coming to the meetup as he has other plans, so I don't need to repair his Typhon.

Only 2 left to fix!
