So this will actually be a build thread for my 9 year old.
After we went to an actual crawler course we realized that although pretty capable, his 1:12 MN99 simply isn't wide enough for a lot of the obstacles.

I had planned to give it to him for his birthday in the summer but after he had a bit of a upsetting food allergy incident, I decided to surprise him with it.
He got the bead locks together and tires mounted.

Then removed the body and wheels before he wanted a break. 🤷

Plans include brushless conversion and will help him design and 3d print a receiver box and battery mount.

That's awesome bro, love it. You're building memories with your son. Invariably they'll become one of his most prized possessions as time goes on. This is beautiful man.

So we are 99% done.

Had him help solder on a new connector for the esc. Then he attach the servo horn, receiver, reinstalled the wheels and then let him decorate it on his own.

All that's left is to program the esc.
In the near future we will install new shocks, and design a lower battery tray.

So I finally had some free time to take my son to the crawler track to run his truck for the first time.
It was a pretty special moment. With his old 1/12 crawler he was more full power no looking back. With this one he was actually going really slow and planning his route.

We even got to run on the dirt track against other people for the first time. Unfortunately his Granites motor broke before he got to start. Luckily I brought the wltoys buggy back up car.
