after lots of trial an error im haveing a blast running my 1/10 mini typon that weights under 7lbs.car is very small an has a 36mm tp an 8s esc...can only fit a 4s pack in it...103mph so far..got lot more....ive learned alot with weight distrabution an downforce...the slightest change affects car drasticly...YOU CAN RUN A VERY LIGHT SETUP WITH THE RIGHT DIST. AN D-FORCE..very fun test an tune car

i went throu alot of chassis an escs last year,all exb an stock ones..120+++++. crashs kills um..im sticking to 325mm an smaller cars this year.the longer center shafts couldnt hang with tp56mm on 8s.shafts,diff housings,braces,.spools an input cups would come apart then shaft would hit motors,braces ..i even knock battery tray an pack out the side of car at 115ish as it went by me.destroyed 100s in parts..swb short shaft lighter cars this year...lol

No crashes yet. Don’t jinx me dude!! When you say XLX2 are in production. What do you mean? I already have an XLX2.

means castl is making them know,be ready next week..then out of stock for months sometimes...they will do a production line of all there escs....sometimes only running the xlx2 once in 3,4 months....when you burn or destroy your xlx2 you send it to castle an its either under warrenty problem or its none warrenty....if its non warrenty they keep the damaged one an they sell you a new one for 152$...then ya got to wait for them to do a production line on xlx2....they have core charge on all there escs...think mmx8s is 119$

Nope. I don’t want that. But IMO that dude seems in a rush to get a run off in between traffic. Plus his road has manholes so he can’t run that full road. Just my $.02

This is the road I’ll be trying. In the middle of the Florida Everglades.

It's always a combination of ride heigth, suspension travel, rake and front vs rear downforce. (and a little weight distribution)

Rear suspension travel should be near zero(basically the flexing of the A arms is sufficient)
Front suspension travel should have some play. You do want it to press down a little during a run, but with the rear basically locked that does mean the rake increases during the run and too much take will take away the benefit of the diffuser. On the pictures above i'd say the rake is a little too much (even if the front does not compress down). In any case rake should be measured while the suspension is fully compressed, not in a free state.

I wouldn't say the wing on my video above was too much, angle wasnt that high. But a little to far behind the rear axle, attached to the body not the chassis and the PF C8 body just lacks front downforce. So the backflip was mainly caused by an inbalance between front and rear downforce. For that reason i stopped using that body for speedruns.

Personally i've also stopped using flat angled wings. Aside from downforce they do add extra drag. single/multiple segment wing shapes provide simular downforce with less drag and therefor again make the diffuser more efficient.

Long story short. If it sticks to the road, you don't need more downforce at the rear. It's about the front and the bottom.

And obviously hitting something at high speed is always problematic...

The protoform C8 has the wide rear of the felony and lacks downforce in the front. It is a nice body but for speedrunning it's not the best choice.
Can't judge the delta plastics version (which has a different front/built-in splitter)

In terms of aero the DP FC100 seems to be the speedrunners favorite atm.

Do you mean Proline? also I was thinking about something other than the FC100. If the C8 is not a good body, I was looking at the 8509 LOTUS body, I want 130's.

I've since learned our only limitation is our imagination. Send me a pic of your interior battery and mount. I've nothing to to with my leftover CF plates and wouldn't mind seeing what can be drummed up to get dual 4s packs in your rig for ya. And yes, I will keep in mind weight distribution. I think that in your case, with the Typhon, it's the body fitment that hinders battery mounting. Am I right?

Just in case anyone is curious, the Protoform C7 is a near perfect fit in the 6s Senton swb. Just remove rear bumper.

The lotus body looks nice indeed and likely has a little better aero than the c8. The porsche 917 looks like the best alternative vs the FC100. I initially also went for the jaguar as everyone else was using the toyota in those days. I am currently running the Grafil hyper 7 but i would not recommend it. He is a black guy and is a police officer. Typically runs on Sundays....

Gotta be more specific. Technically all of the Glades is a preserve. Lol. Tell him this is the road leading to the Dade-Collier transitional airport on the trail. He’ll know. Now I’m curious where he runs and if it’s closer to my house. If you could find out and let me know I’d appreciate it. Wonder if he knows my buddy who is also a police officer. He used to go with me at my old road since it was in his area and he works on the weekends. So that’s why I had a police escort when I did my range test. He’s got a good radar eye. He was with me when I hit 120 and called it before I pulled the GPS data. Lol
