All start with a classic V1(?) typhon

I first change the chassis for a kraton one

IMG_20190206_202207.jpg

And I use red spacer to connect the body with rear shocks tower. I also use fazon srpings.

And I did a homemade wheelie bar

IMG_20190422_125525.jpg

I install a XLX esc mounted on alza racing part

IMG_20190422_125541.jpg

And a big motor mount
IMG_20190422_125547.jpg

Foam tires (thats last 5 runs max)

IMG_20190422_125514.jpg

A rear ftx wing was modified and upsidedown use for the front wing

IMG_20190422_125608_1.jpg

I also instal a big motor : kill potor rc 2900kv race spec motor with a cap-pack :

The V1 version looks like this :

But I decide to change some parts; tires becaus they don't last a long time ... front and rear shocks/shocks tower and small other parts.

So i first install alza racing 1/5 wheel adapter with big grp tires

IMG_20200130_193247.jpg

I change front and rear shocks/shocks tower with infraction one's

IMG_20200130_193254.jpg

IMG_20200130_193301.jpg

I also change spacer and body mount for talion mount. With rear infraction tower, holes arenot in the same place so I need talion mount (witch are not in line) to use original body hole (or close)

IMG_20200130_193346.jpg

IMG_20200130_193510.jpg

And I install a belted center spool diff

IMG_20200130_193424.jpg

IMG_20200130_193449_BURST1.jpg

And now it looks like

I did it bymyself using those parts :
- arrma spool spacer set #ara714000
- arrma spool shaft #ara310943
- arrma imput shaft #ara310432
- a belt and 2 3M 3mm tooth width 16mm timing belt pulley
Is there a reason for the belt? Or just a flex?

just for fun, just to try
It is impressive for sure. Very unique. I just wanted to know if there was a performance gain using the belt or if it was just to try. Don’t want to miss out on the good stuff ????

It's really to try something différent with a fun styl. Maybe less noise, and smooth start.

Great build looks like it would be a killer drag car and even 2nd as a 100+mph car.

I recommend checking the motor and diff bearings often. I found on the XMaxx belt drive that the belt tension required to keep the belt from slipping was enough that it put extra wear on the bearings. The quieter operation was nice though!

Wow. Cool build.

Any idea how much build like this coast? More than 2000 Dollar?

Top Speed is atleast 150mph ?
You wont see many open wheel cars break 150mph.
Worlds fastest limitless is 152 mph on 8s

Holeee Smokes! That's almost Three Hundred feet-per-second!

Any idea how quickly it gets to top speed?
FYI
I added some content to my previous post.
Cannot see the run up but I'd guess not very long maybe in the 10 second range?

I didn't start out with the plan to copy his design, but it certainly ended up that way....
My car length is about the same. Biggest difference is mine is much wider due to using 1/8 scale parts.

Methinks we should start a new category here on the forum for Speed Runners!

This is fascinating stuff to me, way more "interesting" than my Backyard Bashing. Don't get me wrong, I love running my Senton around, but this class of racing really demands attention to detail, similar to what the Drag racing guys do, but with it's own specialties.
