I made a replacement piece for my outcast's rear bumper/skid that ties the bumper to the rear diff case. It's cracked clear across right at the bend where it bolts to the skid. Guessing I didn't use the right kind of plastic. It's cracked clear across through the top layer after one bash session.

I used 1/8" kydex:

Anyone got a better alternative to try?

That's what I used for the "wing" block I made on my outcast/erbe, but it's way too thick to serve the purpose. I wasn't sure if it would hold up to bending repeatedly very well. I don't know "plastic" formula's and what would work well for this. Any idea how HDPE handles repeated bending?

do you have a picture? I’m curious to see what you made.

I break the small pieces on a regular basis on all 4 of the trucks I run t-bone skids on, so would be easier just to make stuff to replace the small bits when they break. Then if I break the larger/thicker piece, order a new one. I'm not trying to screw over t-bone or anything, just don't want to abuse a warranty and be left waiting repeatedly for something I could make in 20 minutes if I knew what to make it out if.

Maybe ask them to send extras?

The piece that connects the rear diff cover to the skid, you can see the line right below the 2 bolts holding it to the skid, that's a crack that's nearly through the entire piece:

I don't use it as they send it. I modify it by nipping the corners and adding my own holes to it to screw it direction to the diff cap, vs reusing the diff cap screws to hold it. IME, using the diff cap screws to hold it on the the diff was straining them too much and causing them to bend/break/strip out. So I do this instead and do away with the sway bar.

Not sure why the image isn't showing... well, for me at the moment.

I was always under the impression that tbone used some type of Kydex. ?

The t-bone has a lifetime warranty. If you contacted them a month ago they were slammed. I’d guess if you contacted them now they’d help
I’ve sent 3 messages thru their website and not a single reply.

I emailed them in the past asking questions about replacement bits to buy and they just asked for a photo and sent me new ones. I did that twice, once for this particular piece and once for a similar piece on my ERBEv2.

Do you know what living hinges are??
View attachment 77382
Well, the few examples I saw in reference to the plastic I ordered looked like hinges used on RC plane wings. They just called them "living hinges" and mentioned that they can bend many times without cracking.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Living_hinge
A living hinge is a thin flexible hinge (flexure bearing) made from the same material as the two rigid pieces it connects. It is typically thinned or cut to allow the rigid pieces to bend along the line of the hinge.
