If you are talking about in the dif case, a little grease on the big gear is all you need. Just enough to reduce friction between the main gear and the pinion. I use regular silicone grease covering the teeth with a thin layerWhat’s the best lubricant for drive cups,,,,or should they be lubed at all......just wondering,,,,,,thanks guys......
No, I’m talking about just the drive cups,,,I’ve got the diffs handled,,,,,thanksIf you are talking about in the dif case, a little grease on the big gear is all you need. Anything dry or a wax lubricant. You want them to pick up the least amount of dirt and debris possibleNo, I’m talking about just the drive cups,,,I’ve got the diffs handled,,,,,thanks
Np. There's a few threads with specific brands that people use. I just bought a can of dry graphite spray from an automotive supply store. Some bicycle chain lubes come in a dry wax version as well.Ok thanks,,,I’ll give it a go,,,,,thanks for the comeback,,,,, have fun......
Good idea,,,,thanks,,,I’ll try different stuff just to see which is best,,,,,,Np. There's a few threads with specific brands that people use. I just bought a can of dry graphite spray from an automotive supply store. Some bicycle chain lubes come in a dry wax version as well.
20M is like a puddy. It won't stay. 1M is like grease and will attract a lot of dirt.I was thinking about the 1,000,000 or 20,000,000. Traxxas diff oil might work,,,,mmmmmm.....
If I just put a real thin coating just a little,,,seems like it would stay on for a while and won’t sling out,,maybe just the 1,000,000 will work,,,,,never really know til you try,,,,,I’ll let you know I might experiment on all four axles with different lubes,,,,should be interesting20M is like a puddy. I use white lightning clean ride chain lube. It's a thin liquid with wax particles in it, you shake the bottle, then apply and let dry. I put it on all my cups/cvd's/spurs. Quiets things down a bit. I apply it after every bash so it's completely dried for next time. It doesn't take too long, but it's just a habit I get into.

Some use this and say it works well:

I haven't tried that stuff yet. In 3-4 years when my white lightning runs out, I'll try the dupont stuff.
I tried thick and thin silicone oil, grease, wd40, stp engine treatment, 3-in-1, 3-in-1 teflon "dry" lube (wasn't dry, but I use the bottle for the WL)... all collected dirt and made a mess.If I just put a real thin coating just a little,,,seems like it would stay on for a while and won’t sling out,,maybe just the 1,000,000 will work,,,,,never really know til you try,,,,,I’ll let you know I might experiment on all four axles with different lubes,,,,should be interesting
That's what I use, Liquid Wrench Dry Lube.?Anything dry or a wax lubricant. You want them to pick up the least amount of dirt and debris possible
If you do go with white lightning, go with clean ride or easy ride. Do not get the epic ride. That stuff stays wet. I just threw a bottle of that away.I use the White Lightning chain lube too. Quick to dry into a waxy lubricant and won't pick up dirt. Shake it well and good luck with the lid. I stripped the screw on cap and now I have to make sure to keep it upright.
Walmart is cheapest and easily accessible.
