Hi Arrmy! Thanks for all the help everyone has given me in the last year or two. Figured I'd document my rebuild project on my Notorious. I bought this a year and a half ago (V4) and honestly it's been broken more than not. Endless diff problems, stripping ring gears specifically. Tried all kinds of stuff, may have been tripping over my own feet but not sure. Fought those gremlins for months when I decided to rebuild and try again.
Up till this point it was running the following: castle monster x and 1515 (2200kv) motor, HR diff cases/lids, HR bell crank, HR center diff mount, HR center diff cover, HR wing mount, HR servo mount.
Got it all emptied out and added the Exb braces front and back,
EXB stand offs front and back.
Shiny new M2C Ackerman bar and a monster savox SW2290 servo, because the plan is to run these larger swampers I picked up off a guy on FB.
With that in mind I took to the forums and found that everyone seems to love these tires until their motors start over heating. I'm still kind of a noob really, only a couple years doing this so I just shot from the hip and figured I'd over build some. So I got this:
Went with the Castle Monster X 8S with the 1717 (1650kv) motor. Thought that should shoot this thing around without much problems and without over working the system much. Thoughts on my choice?
Decided to start with all new diffs and further, to upgrade to the LSDs for the better traction and stronger gears. They fit beautifully in the HR diff cases.
Decided to reinforced it and replace the rear hinge pin holder with an M2C captured pin system. Went with the upper system as well.
Now on to shocks! M2C has my back again.
Got a wild hair to drill a couple holes in my new RPM bumper for some cheapo leds. Soldered those to an inline switch so I can turn them off and whenever.
Brand new HR servo arm.
Looking pretty good to me so far.
Just bash it provided the badass spike wheel nuts.
And here she sits I'm pretty happy with it. Too much snow to get a real sense of the power but it does scoot around really well and wheelies even with crappy traction. Started with the stock 12 tooth pinion but castle tells me that I can go way up. Thoughts? I'm still new to this.
